There haven't been Muslims for 2000 years--Islam started in the 7th century AD.

Not that this says much to anything, but perhaps it might be the case that there were some angry people even before the mythological gods came along, or Judaism, or Christianity, or Mohammedanism, or ...

Those who seek power need to make people angry before they can proceed further.

I cannot call it mere conjecture that the case in these instances might have been that power seekers saw an opportunity and took it.

In the old days, there was more often the need for opportunism in taking advantage of anger when it arose. The modern world has no patience in awaiting that, it must be incited and provoked as standard procedure.

We have politics and media pimps for that nowadays. The media serve the task of making sure that people stay angry and agitated at all waking hours.

I am unaware of any significant demonstration of solidarity with OBL anywhere in the world to date. A few dozen fanatics in London (or even a few hundred) doesn't count as significant in my book.

OBL's lasting legacy in the Arab world he sought to influence is irrelevance. The Arab Spring has decisively rejected his aims and methods. That has been obvious to any one following the events of the past few months across the Arab world. Arabs have decisively chosen modernity over the past. Democracy and jobs over dictatorship or Islamo-fascism. Demands any Westerner can relate to and identify with.

I rather suspect ashjor's comments encapsulate the reaction of the Arab world. It's certainly typical of the reactions I've seen.

And this restores my faith in a Higher Power.

Just as we seemed to be abandoned to our own misdirection in the case of Brittany Spears or Justin Bieber, the Osama BL thing comes along and saves the day vs. the royal wedding.

Those people will be carefully watched and if they try to do anything stupid they will be arrested before they get the chance to hurt anybody.

Thank God they have not shown anger here "yet"

the pics are sposed to prove what?

Well, they were meant to establish that both drew a pretty significant bunch of people, Lucy. Instead, they seem to establish that you would rather believe partisan talking points from a particular side, rather than your own eyes.

If only we could all aspire to be as fair-minded and non-partisan as you Richie.

"Saddens you that we allow free speech huh Sanity."

You best get a fucking grip man, you're worse than some. And that includes Hunky and RealO. You are so biased against them that you see words not typed. That is not good dude. I understand your point to some extent, but you are no better than McVeigh or anyone else who takes things too fucking far.

Got it, get it, good. Nuff said.

What would you do if a Moslem (muslim is a fucking cloth) came up to you and stuck a gun in your face ? Come on you pee wet wipe ass babies, what would you do ? Call the police for a gun control violation ?

Let me tell you something, if a foreign power came here in superior strength, which is not implausible, and came for me you know what I would do ? I would try to get along. Our government does not represent us anyway, why not give the next guy a chance ?

Of course this is after killing every one of those motherfuckers I could,. But if you can't beatem, joinem. We can't join these fucking goniffs we got now, so what's the point in defending them ? They are going to turn this country into Bangladesh, and so would conquerers. I have a better chance with the new regime, and so will you.

If you think I'm fucking kidding take a look around. If this fucking government is our friend, we NEED enemies !

The article is from The Daily Express.

For those who aren't familar with this "newspaper," the Daily Express is obsessed with three things - Princess Diana, the EU, and Islam.

The quality of their journalism is so bad that they recently withdrew from the Press Complaints Commission on the grounds that they didn't like the judgements that were constantly being made against them.

So in summary, if the Express says "Muslims are very angry, " what actually happened was a few dark-skinned people said "I'm not so sure this is a good idea"

"Muslin" is the cloth.

But in any case, look at the job history of those who are and have been in our government agencies. We've got foxes with a seriously good kill record guarding the hen house here.

jlf1961 -> RE: London Muslims Furious Over bin Laden Death (5/7/2011 4:53:30 AM)

RML, how can you even take someone seriously who does not know the difference between Muslim and muslin?

Termy, for your education, a Muslim (pronounced /ˈmʊslɨm/) is an adherent of Islam, a monotheistic, Abrahamic religion based on the Quran, which Muslims consider the verbatim word of God as revealed to prophet Muhammad. "Muslim" is the Arabic term for "one who submits to God".

Muslin (English pronunciation: /ˈmʌslɨn/, or less frequently: (/ˈmjuːsɨn/) is a loosely-woven cotton fabric introduced to Europe from the Middle East in the 17th century. It became very popular at the end of the 18th century in France. Muslin is most typically an unbleached or white cloth, produced from carded cotton yarn. It is often used to make sewing patterns, such as for clothing, curtains, or upholstery. Because air moves easily through muslin, muslin clothing is suitable for hot, dry climates.

The cloth that you're thinking of is muslin.    A muslim is a member of the Islamic religion.

Well, since everyone is an expert on the cloth spoken of, but clueless as to the rest of what Termy was alluding to in the assertion that "Our government does not represent us... "

Some names for you:

Arthur Hayes  http://www.wnho.net/letter_to_foia_fda.htm

Donald Rumsfeld  http://www.rense.com/general33/legal.htm

Lots of names here http://thinkprogress.org/interior-scandals-under-bush/

Deborah Majoras, an oil lobbyist, who replaced Timothy Muris, another lobbyist, as FTC chair http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Deborah_Platt_Majoras

Darn, how did all those mergers happen?

Larry Summers, Henry Paulson, etc.,  the list is actually quite extensive, and don't forget Michael Taylor http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jeffrey-smith/youre-appointing-who-plea_b_243810.html

That's just the way it's been for years. Either appoint the right people or get your head blown off.

Firstly, your link only shows one photo of no more than a couple of dozen Muslims. Secondly even if it was a larger crowd of a hundred or so, its still only a very tiny proportion of the Muslims in the UK.

The pic attached indicates it is a lot more than 20 to 30, more like a couple of hundred. The Daily Mail featured a longer article on the event with numerous additional photos http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1384353/Osama-bin-Laden-mock-funeral-Fury-erupts-outside-US-Embassy-London.html#ixzz1Lbw2pgdF suggesting a large crowd with an ugly mood. It doesn't seem right to defend Islam with regard to radicalisation by saying the crowd is a minority since there is a very large Muslim population in the UK - almost 2 million so it would almost inevitably be a small minority. I do of course believe most muslims are moderates just getting on with their lives but there is enough material out there to accept that radicalisation is a big issue particularly with this faith more so than others. Thats really what concerns me since Islam constitutes around 20% of the world's populace.

The Express is a distinctly right wing paper that has exaggerated in the past but really what British tabloid (or broadsheet for that matter) hasn't? I could be wrong but as far as I know they didn't withdraw from the press complaints commission, they were ejected due to non-payment of fees to another organisation called the National Publishers Association of which some money is siphoned off to cover PCC fees. The Express isn't a particularly successful paper anymore - it has only a quarter of the sales of its old rival the Daily Mail.

There have been big demos around the world for Ozzy Bin: http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/142372/20110506/osama-bin-laden-dead-supporters-protest-in-middle-east-photos.htm
