It would not surprise me if there are problems with voting machines which is ridiculous because technology exists to count accurately.

Extensions Requested for Wisconsin State Supreme Court Recount

While the recount procedure is about as thrilling as watching paint dry or grass grow, I did write about it the last time I discussed the recount by hand, so I'll do it again regarding the machine count:
……….

The Milwaukee County recount has been relatively free of problems and is expected to finish and submit their data by the Monday deadline. The Kloppenburg camp has had plenty of volunteers, so many, in fact, that people were sent home yesterday and I am not needed today. Not so much for the Waukesha County recount which have been followed by fellow Kossack Giles Goat Boy. Problem after problem with chain of custody issues, ballot bag tags that don't match the tag number issued election night, as well as other errors have caused Waukesha County to request an extension on their deadline. The Government Accountability Board, in charge of elections, has asked for an estimate on the amount of time needed beyond the Monday deadline. Considering their problem-plagued recount, Waukesha County election officials might be clueless on how much longer it will take.

While we are all hoping that Joanne Kloppenburg can overcome the 7500 vote difference she faced when (2 days after the election showed Kloppenburg leading by just over 200 votes) Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nichlaus "discovered" ballots in the largest city in the county were not included in her election results, it is certainly going to change election results reporting in the future so no further "human errors" will overturn election results. The recount is exposing, at the very least, the incompetence in Waukesha County, if not outright manipulation.

Oh boy, another thread about the US from a canadian who has absolutely no stake in any issue here except to rag on right-wingers. This was becoming a decent forum while you were absent. There have been some really great threads with thoughtful contributions from the likes of Tweakabelle, Ashjor, NorthernGent, and a few other non-Amis.

I don't have any love for conservatives, myself, but at least I live here in the US. Why don't you post threads about what is going on in Canada?

If the process isn't openly auditable, it's not worth the time to argue about.

The current process isn't openly auditable. Arguing about the outcome of a system which is by definition not trustworthy always strikes me as somewhat off the mark...

First question: Where's the JTAG port, I need to verify some ROM checksums....

Let me see if I can follow the logic, or lack thereof.

You are applauding the contributions of those from other countries who are commenting on U.S. issues while telling him he has no business commenting on U.S. issues?

Doesn't your dictionary have the word "thoughtful" in it?

My primary objection is that he floods the forum with thread after thread which are nothing more than troll threads dissing right-wingers. I don't much care for the conservative philosophy myself, but I don't feel a need to continuously rag on conservatives. Perhaps you enjoy that sort of thing. I rather enjoy threads like "Evolution vs. Religion" where folks actually discuss something.

But if you want this forum to be little more than a collection of threads bashing right-wingers, and goofy-assed pseudo-legal trolls about the Magna Carta and "sovereignty", and verbatim C&Ps about whatever insane thought occurs to some "Alex" asshole, fine. I won't stand in your way.

Is that what you want? A forum where discourse is abandoned for the cheap shot, the pithy insult, the smarmy "look at how clever I am!" wisecrack, the ever-banal endless cycle of cucky "farlefters suck"/ brain "stupid rightard tricks" troll threads?

Is that what you want? Stand up and be counted, dude. There's a reason why half of CM doesn't go near this forum; same reason half of what's left of B.com doesn't go near the Politics and Such forum there. And it isn't discussions like "Evolution and Religion".

But, you know, I'm a newcomer. You've been here much longer. You should have the right to have things any way you want.

So, let's try and summarize all this.

Your primary objection is people posting things you don't like.

Did I get that right?

You do know that you are under no requirement to read everything that gets posted here?
