LOL well what can i say ive been through and done alot for being only 25.

Yep. I've got a couple more years on you, and probably a couple more mistakes too. lol.

Age doesn't limit the number of mistakes we made, or what we learned from them. I constantly meet people my age that haven't lived through half the shit I or you have. I come across guys my age that have no idea of what is needed to face the real world. It's why I may not discriminate against age, but life experience is a whole different story. Be on the same path as me, or at least be able to empathize with where I've been, or get off my fucking tracks!!! There is only so much patience in my world these days. I don't have the time or energy to explain where I've been over and over.

PheonixRose -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (10/29/2013 9:58:13 PM)

LTS i know the feeling soooooooo very much...

the worst thing is having people that say ya i can empathize with that but actually are lying and that just infuriates me to no end....

•Describe a local business that you are loyal to and explain why.
•Describe the person that you deal with at the business. What traits does this person have that made an impression?

for customer relations and servicing [:D][sm=rolleyes.gif]

Ummmmm..... There's a local window and door place, but that might be more because I know the family that owns the company than anything else.

Local business that I'm loyal to...... The local spa where I was getting my legs waxed for my Dom (when I had one coming to visit me). I usually dealt with the front desk or the esthetician that waxed me. I kept going back because it was local, so I could schedule it around work. Oh, and because when I started zoning out into mild sub-space, they didn't look at me weird or try to chatter to me. I got to just sink into the feelings of pain for his pleasure.......

Have I mentioned I'm a maso?

Okay, so, the abstract, but applied pragmatically, chaos invoked to help the spirit overcome the flesh...

Dance and movement combined with controlled yet not bureaucratic movement-based freeform art.

NOT Jackson Pollack wanker-crap or Cristo Crud (which will actually cause you to want to smoke and cause you to lose the 'flow', the spiritual flow that makes the mind and addictive-mind shut up).

I am talking about a beautiful BORN OF CHAOS, BORN OF MOTHER NATURE art form, used for over 1000 years. On paper, but DEMANDING that the artist give up 'trying to make a hand look like a hand', and all the other regulum which is Kryptonite to your supergirl status.

I am talking about MARBLING. On a bigger scale, but small if you like. Done with music, using the inner Voice to guide you, melding the UNMIXABLE, oil and water, on paper.

All deities LOVE marbling. you can PRAY while you do it, CHANT while you do it, DOUBLING AND TRIPLING UP on things that will whisk all components of your mind away from any molecule of addictive "feed me" crap.

and you can use SEAWEED!

The time taken here rather disproves any nastiness thought of me beforehand, I imagine... /chuckle

I'll do better than that, I'll do at least 2!

Butterfly Reserve and Preservation Centre. They look after them, they tell us about them, they make meat-heads appreciate them, they keep their history, they tell us about the ones which come here from abroad and those that are indigineous to here so we can be proud of "our own". They eplain how we can safely allow the Winged Beauties to alight upon us safely, enjoy them, and not endanger them, and....

THEY OFFER PRFECT TEA AND SCONES for a lunch afterwards!!!!

The person / people I dealt with were not merely volunteers to get the dole, they LOVED butterflies! They RESPECTED their place here and along the coast, they FUCKINF CARED, and they new when someone else cared. There was the orange-ish haired middle aged woman who told us about why the Winged Wonders mattered to her and how easily we could lose them, there was the young sports lad who was brave enough to refuse to care if his work there made him seem 'poofy' and shared how his nanna used to paint Butterflies, how he even loved the bugs in association with butterflies, and how he, as a man, would feel that men will have FAILED Australia if we kept losing species, year after year.

They cared, they cared about US, they bothered to UNDERSTAND what they were doing and WHY it mattered.

They did not pay 'lip service'.

more soon.

This kind of negative statement is what I was referring to way back..... You don't know me well enough to know whether that type of art would cause me to lose the "flow"

I'm not sure what marbling is, but I may look into it later. I'm not really interested in paint techniques as therapy. I have to have a specific goal, and a background look or technique isn't going to do it. Creating a knotwork pattern that fills a certain size/shape does.

It's cute that you think that you can eliminate any previous nastiness by being nice somewhere else. Life doesn't work that way though. Yes, your nastiness is mitigated by your conduct elsewhere, but that doesn't make me forget that you were nasty to me in a different thread. Your post there hurt me, and I chose not to respond to it, and instead walk away and heal my hurt on my own. That doesn't make the hurt you caused me disappear. It colours everything I read of yours now. Life is a tapestry, and you've coloured the threads that others see of you.

well, that last line pretty much says it all. basically you can have an opinion and if I've been in the art world and have a critical opinion of other kinds of art, you call that 'negative and nasty". fine, but guess what? your LUNGS won't draw that false distinction. And the 'it colours everything you post now' is as non-open-minded as you claim you need people to be. It also ain't great for kicking nicotine.

And if you want to be stuck in yesterday, rather than today, and ignore the assistance I'm trying to give, that's okay, BUT, let's be honest here since you 'went there'. You privately contacted me, correct? you and I spoke of art and writing, correct? And you suddenly dropped that correspondence like a hot stone pretty much after we briefly discussed an author you were fond of, and I had personal experience with, right?

You can hold a grudge on that (and fine if you do, just don't paint a grudge as something else), but don't pretend it's anythig else, or that it will help you, or help you quit cigs.

and if your hurt healed on it's own, you would not have posted that, above.

and denial is an impediment to addiction recovery, as you well know.

lovethyself -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (10/29/2013 10:27:13 PM)

I've got a local not-for-profit venue that I frequent. Sometimes it's because I'm in the area and want a drink, sometimes it's because I need a venue for something, and I know they have rooms for rent (for public events). Sometimes it's because it feels like part of the family. I look at it as my local pub (though it's at least 45 min away by public transit). I've been a member ever since I wasn't part of my parents' membership. I've even sat on the board in the past (though not at the same time as my dad, that would be bad. lol). I've got a kink crafting event being run out of there once a month, and my mom's art has been featured on the walls of the front room 3 times.

The staff are that most amazing of individual. The ones that work there for the love of the venue more than any financial gains. Some are musicians, others are law students that simply believe in what we are trying to create through this space. We've got former city hall staff, musicians, songwriters, carpenters, indie recording company workers, and zine affictionados on the board of directors. It is truely a cultural landmark that survives on the support of the community. We all step up to do what we can for the place. For me, that means repairing the folding tables every year before the annual craft fair. Or donating lighting equipment to the theatre space.

It's not quite a retail store, but it does sell to the public (booze at least).

NoBimbosAllowed -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (10/29/2013 10:41:10 PM)

The other local business I truly admire is the local community theatre.

the people there rise above challenges of age, of the local population 'not getting it', of challenging underlying prejudices with the original stage versions of Cabaret (which is very confronting to people who quietly are uncomfortable with Jewish People, and the stage play deals with that aspect of germany more than the film did), they also bring to town stuff like the Vagina Monologues and even world renowned Shakespeare Companies we have here. And Flamenco Guitarists, and they ALWAYS work hard to make sure they, and the people who come here, TAKE THE TIME to explain the art forms, and the pieces, to the folks that pay to get the tickets.

showing something is ONE thing, sharing WHY it is important is better.

and better still, though some of them have horrible arthritis, or spinal injury, or maybe the begionning stages of MS...

they play on.

The show goes on. But never dumbed down.

So I love them.

PheonixRose -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (10/29/2013 10:43:07 PM)

hmmmmmmmm that sounds like a nice small business for the needs that any one person would have.

A local business that my grandmother is loyal to and I occasionally use is a beauty parlor. Its is a group of women that cut hair. We, as far as the women of my family, use a woman that my grandparents and mom goes to church with. She is always sweet and is very efficient in her work. After moving home i went and had her cut my hair because I had been cutting it on my own and we all know what kind of mess that will cause. I enjoy using her because all i have to tell her is even it up and make it look decent and she washes and trims my hair. i dont know what shampoo and conditioners she uses but my hair always feels better and i always look forward to affording to go and get my hair cut in the future.

This is the last post I'm making for a bit. Not because I'm running away, but because I have to go to bed, I have a rope event tomorrow, a wedding the next day (as well as getting my mom's car to the shop), prep for the weekend on Friday, a play party on sat, and my crafting event on Sunday (hence my earlier frustrations).

The negative and nasty has to do with your need to not only voice your opinion on the art/whatever, but the need that you feel to take it one step further and insult either the person behind it, or anyone that has a different perspective than you. If you kept your comments to your opinion of the piece in question rather than blanket disparaging comments, it would be taken differently. There are times that you make comments that come across as being deliberately insulting, as if you're hoping that the person gets insulted so that you can jump on how that shows something about the person responding more than you. I'm not interested in playing that game.

I can say that a particular act is a foolish thing to have done. I resent the person next to me taking it one step further and calling that person an asshole (to use an example from my recent experience).

As for what feeds my addiction..... You have no idea how I function or what will or will not help me kick the habit. I will say that it speaks volumes about you that one comment from me has you taking your well wishes back and basically telling me that you think I'm not going to kick my smoking addiction because I didn't sit back and applaud your statement. Thank you for that. I didn't ask for your support, and I don't need it to survive.

Yesterday doesn't just cease to exist because it's in the past. My past is what has shaped the person I am today. I would not have the compassion I do for others if I hadn't experienced the tragedy of suicide time and again as a teen. Nor would I have the realistic picture about addictions I have had I not already fought a meth addiction. All of those experiences, bad and good, painful and joyful, shape both who I am and how I view the world. Why wouldn't I take prior experience with me to form a concept or opinion about someone now? To ignore the past is folly and would only lead to repeating it.

I think you need to look back at those correspondences. We stopped because it was way past my bedtime for that night (as it's getting to be now), and you wished me good night. I'm not sure where I was supposed to go with it after that. I didn't drop it, we both did, because there wasn't much else to say in that conversation.

The hurt I was talking about was your attack in Athena's thread. Not the private messages. This is the one I'm thinking of (I think.... I didn't read through the whole post to check, it's almost 2am here and I have to work tomorrow).... http://www.collarchat.com/fwd.asp?messageID=4571073

My addiction is my own. I will either make it or not. Your negativity towards it is something I can do without. So, have fun with the WIN. I don't want it. I'm going to find somewhere else to be while I deal with this, as here isn't somewhere healthy for me anymore. Thank you for that.

Better than anything I've come up with tonight. I sort of want to go to your hairdresser. Everytime I go for just a trim, they end up trying to do something fancy. While all I really want is what my mom used to do for me. Cut it while it's wet, straight across the bottom. lol

NoBimbosAllowed -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (10/29/2013 11:04:31 PM)

and I feel that is grossly exaggerated. And I cannot believe, after I have kicked the same addiction you've introduced to this thread, and attempted to be helpful, you realllly had to spout a fit and /again/ re-paint things as they are not.

and I may not know your past or what feeds your havbit, but I damn well know what it means to smoke, and smoke more than you did, and that the chemicals that cause and maintain the brain's addiction don't give a crap whether I candy-coat anything I say or not.

and you bring up the pain you've gone through and and the struggles you've faced and say that those things mean that what I posted means not that much.

yet you never asked me what *I* have gone through, did you? Nope.

Yet you assumed (while stating many times you can't abide other people assuming things about you) that my pain and challenges have been, shall we say, 'less'?

That is TRULY negative, and frankly, wanktastically personal in the way you are complaining about.

and AGAIN,

your

lungs

don't

care.
