If you notice it doesn't say that CM will need to determine the correctness of the advice being given, or that the credientials of the person posting MUST be expertise with regard to the suggestions and advice they are dispensing.  It simply says all suggestions and advice are welcome.  Therefore, its up to the reader to deal with the accurateness of the information they are getting.

Sorry, while i get your point -- CM cannot determine if the advice posted is accurate and therefore, cannot claim ANYTHING on this site to be medical advise or expert advice without being liable EVEN IF the person posting says i am a doctor and posts their resume.  If they attempt to do so, they could be held liable for the presumption that those posts they do not say anything about could be constued as accurate and correct expert advice.

Which is why NONE of the advice given should be taken by readers as EXPERT advice in ANYTHING posted on this site.  grins to have to say this though reminds me of the stupid signs i was reading today on some yahoo thing.

grins, shrugs, you want to speak about medical advice being given and making you twitch, what you are asking them to do is making me twitch lol i think most attorneys would advise them against doing.  Now, posting that readers should not take anything posted on the site as expert advice in any field i believe is already in the TOS.

Its a good concept in theory but way to specific for CM to remotely do and the presumptions of them doing that would mean that anyone who does post can be construed as being an expert and their advice can be taken in this situation as medical advice.  And would make way to much work for them.

Ok...yeah, I could have been a little more politically correct in the OP, but that's just not my style. I call like I see 'em.....however, I do appreciate all that the MODS do here on CM.

Seems I'm not the only one who thinks that games should have a separate forum all together though. If it takes so much to move the games (big ones). Can't you lock them down for a day or two and move them? Or perhaps build a Games forum (folder?) in a non-accessible area on the server from backups and when it's ready reveal it?

Even though I've not really had time to participate in the games the last 6 months (cuz of school) I still enjoy taking a look in when I have a moment to spare.

If ya wanna know the games to move....in no particular order....

well....yes.  I get that.  I really do.
And quite honestly, I would *hope* that most people would listen to their healthcare professionals and not believe something on a website not designated for that purpose.  But I also worry that people who are not very savvy would see the words "health and safety" and believe whatever is posted there is good health & safety advice.   I think there is a legal disclaimer somewhere when you sign on that basically says...one does not hold the website responsible for injury, illness or criminal act that occurs as a result of someone doing something they read on this site.

I mean, I suppose it's no different from someone posting about tying someone up for a month, crapping in their mouth or shoving a lightbulb up their bum. (for the record--I don't condone any of those things as safe activities)  Someone out there will read it and want to try it.

And you know...the reason why your blow dryer says "do not immerse in water" and the iron warning label says "Do not iron clothes while on body" is because somewhere, there is someone stupid enough to have done it...and either died....or lived to sue the daylights out of them.

it was just my cranky rant.  and a hijack at that.....but thanks for the reply.

Let's try this again, we cannot move them. Period. We have been trying to lock them and start a new thread with a link to the old thread so that people could read the past posts to them and provide continuity. While I definitely think that the case for a seperate forum for Humor would be beneficial, at the time this was done, it was not in the equation to be able to add another forum. I will see what I can do, but am doing all I can with what I have. Please check the threads you listed and see if there is a new one started and the old one locked. If not, please, (and this is NOT in sarcasm for once) list the ones that have not been restarted yet. We CANNOT move the threads just link them. I will be honest and say that since I do not have the pleasure of posting on the boards as a regular user, I am not as knowledgable as the users. Nor, unfortunately, do more than a skim through on what threads to "move" by linking and restarting. I will do what I can about another forum. In the meantime, please let me know which ones have not been restarted.

As an aside, I don't care if this seems like favoritism;Kalon Eric, have I told you lately how much I love you????

I DO get what you were saying, i first thought as you do when i first came here because of the presumption health and safety can give people.  But then i read the TOS and i believe they still have and did at that time, their legal firm in the TOS (and yes lol i actually looked them up lol).  So i figured they probably ran by someone and found out their liability. 

Grins, you hit on the head why i was using the generic expert as what your concern is can be applied to any expert concept.  But you know, when you do have daily knowledge of something its sometimes hard to disassociate yourself enough to not bristel when you see inaccurate information and believe it could harm someone.  grins, in many of our cases, they are won on EXPERT testimony that opposes the other side's expert.

Job security for both of us then....
I try to never lecture my patients--I figure they're having a shitty enough day as it is...but sometimes.... I just have to ask them: "what about this seemed like a good idea at the time???"

My favorite was a guy who was stung on the corner of his eyelid by a bee (ouch!)  He followed the advice of his elderly mother (!) who told him to pull out the stinger and then rub rock salt on the sting.  Now I have a guy in agony because he has rock salt in his eye.  It was really gross. (I hate eyeball injuries)  I told him that his mother gave him good advice--because now he has a serious eye injury and has forgotten all about the minor sting.  job security for sure.

Just because there are words in the TOS that hold the site harmless & that warn people about taking the advice on the threads, a lot of people never read the TOS, so never see the warning. And they will try something stupid because some random stranger on the internet tells them it's a great idea. But dontcha gotta wonder about someone who comes to Collarchat for legal &/or medical advice??? I mean, if I was in an ER having just been told I was in kidney failure, I wouldn't go to a health & safety forum on a kink website & ask what it means.]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]\ <--------this was typed by Professor Orange. I would think that anybody who gets advice on the internet or from anybody they don't know if they are qualified would ask a few simple questions and do a bit of research, before you risk your health or money or getting into trouble with the law, you ask why it works, what it does exactly and then consider and take it up with a professional.

Remember when I asked if anybody knows how to treat a mild infection from a dog bite, I was told I would die, lose my hand or at least some fingers, possibly my arm, the dog needs to be put down, blah blah blah. Oddly enough my hand healed just fine, the scar is visible if you seriously look for it, the other dog who bit me (by mistake) was rehomed and has now a responsible owner and is completely changed, especially since it gets enough exercise and the right training. Amazing how many "dog experts" said it needs to be reported and killed, I guess if you're on the internet you can be an expert for everything... A bit of common sense applies everywhere, especially online.

I feel your frustration. *grins* I had a very similar situation with an entirely different poster who made all of these claims that were just...ridiculous. Like when he likened a heart attack to a cramp. Or stated that strokes were not caused by high blood pressure.

Still, hopefully most people are intelligent enough to not take the word of anyone in the Health and Safety forums, unless they are talking about a specific situation, with direct personal experience. And even in that scenario, I would hope most, if not all, would recognize that we will not all experience the same situation in the same way.

It floors me that more sites are doing this.   I mean for real?  Much of the population is older now-  I dare say the older crowd is a presence online.   The commotion, pop ups, noise, and font-  all intrusive to the experience.

So CM has that part exactly right.   :-)
