SirKenin -> American Idol? (5/11/2006 5:33:04 AM)

Did anyone else watch American Idol last night?  It blew Me away (and evidently everyone that was at the taping) that Chris Daughtry was voted off.  He was favoured to win and in My opinion was the best singer there.  What a let down.  Now they have the two dorks on there.  It was evident that Chris was really pissed.  *sigh*  That was the worst episode evah.

kisshou -> RE: American Idol? (5/11/2006 6:17:40 AM)

My gosh SirK, for some reason I thought the show was on tonight so I am shocked reading this. I will tell you that I have voted for Elliot from day one. Yes he is kind of dorky but something about him just appeals to me. Also he sang the best on the Graceland show. Kat is so beautiful and has a great voice and Taylor has a weird legion of fans. I think it is his grey hair. I think that people vote according to Simon, it always seems he is right on with his comments.

SirKenin -> RE: American Idol? (5/11/2006 6:24:41 AM)

That is the thing.  Simon was clearly pissed that Chris was voted off.  I do not think anyone saw that coming.  He was going to be Simon's money maker.  Cha-ching.

I will take Elliott over that goofy Taylor any day.  Taylor will have a great career on cruise ships, casinos and bars, but he will never sell any albums.  I think Simon knows that and is secretly hoping they get rid of him.

I think Kat is absolutely gorgeous and has a great voice.  She is My bet for the next idol.  She was My second choice.

MHOO314 -> RE: American Idol? (5/11/2006 6:24:54 AM)

It sucked! He was way better and the fact that he is from North Carolina has nothing to do with My prejudices.

Evanesce -> RE: American Idol? (5/11/2006 10:42:17 AM)

I was stunned.  Simply stunned.  Chris was the ONLY one of the remaining four who really had a shot at a long-term music career.  America has REALLY gotten this one wrong.  Kat's beautiful, and she's got a pretty voice, so she might do well.  Taylor's addictive like a train wreck.  If he could stand still for five seconds, he might have a decent voice.  Elliott's got a fabulous voice, but he's just so BORING!  I can't see thousands of people lining up to go to one of his concerts.

Chris will get a recording contract, somewhere, out of all this.  He can't NOT succeed.  The man is just far too talented to fade away into obscurity like most also-rans.

Chris is STILL gonna be Simons moneymaker.... has Simon not still picked up the last three shows "runner-ups" with recording contracts and such and still made a few nickels off them ?
And as far as My favorite to win it now, its gotta be Taylor... yeah, he's sort of corny and has a certain casino nightclub vibe thing going on... but it works for him... its not like he'll make more than one or two records and be working in a bar somewhere anyway by the time the next seasons show comes out... (for reference... anyone know where clay aiken is ?)

T.R.

edited for a post script: How can you favor a nervous nelly like Kat to win... her stage presence is awful... she forgets at least one line per song, because she freaks the hell out when she gets up there... and she's done this the last three shows I've watched... I didn't get to watch it last night, but I think she should have been the one voted off. Oh... and Elliot is a great singer... but he's just too dorky looking to be on the cover of a CD... Simon would have to put too much money into dental work and nip/tuck jobs before he signed and released any of his work, I think.

Everyone loves a surprise ending, atleast I do!
Yes, that was a surprise, but very cool as I always root for the under dog!

Damn, I feel like Jimmy Stewert today....Sir K, MH, Kisshou,Evanesce.....Hi, Hi, Hi,......life is beautiful, I love it hear, did you hear the bells ring?  Another Angel earned their wings........Kevin clicks his heels and laughs.

SpankMuhButt -> RE: American Idol? (5/11/2006 12:05:57 PM)

Yes I watched it and this is the reason I no longer vote, I feel american idol is fixed.....If anyone watched it the night before Tommy Matola made a comment along of the lines of "When i sign Chris"  If Chris won Tommy Matola cant sign him for however long American Idol has in their contracts.....so I guarentee Matola offered Chris a really good deal.....I felt this way last year too but yet i still watch it lol

windchymes -> RE: American Idol? (5/11/2006 1:17:17 PM)

I was stunned that Chris got voted off, too, but having followed Idol all 5 years, I've learned that you can never predict how the voting will go.  Strange things have happened every year.

Gauge -> RE: American Idol? (5/11/2006 1:45:59 PM)

I must admit, I am stunned too. But not because this guy got voted off the show. I am stunned that people actually watch this show. I guess I should keep my opinion to myself but I honestly don't get the attraction.

Hey, if you enjoy it, great... someone has to watch it and it sure won't be me.

SirKenin -> RE: American Idol? (5/11/2006 2:00:03 PM)

My wife got Me into it.  She is a reality show junky.  At first I did not like it, but once they started the actual performances I really enjoyed it.  They have had some really talented performances.

Except Chicken Little.  What the hell was up with him anyways?  Geez.

cajingrl -> RE: American Idol? (5/11/2006 2:03:35 PM)

i for one never watched the show until this season, and my sister got me hooked on it....i was also very surprised that Chris got voted off...i was sure that it would have been Kat...but, my favorite is Taylor...he's my baby!!!  LOL...still haven't figured out why yet, but i just really like him...and i REALLY want him to win...LOL and as for Elliot, i can go either way with him.....
just my 2 cents worth..

akisha -> RE: American Idol? (5/11/2006 2:59:07 PM)

The American Idol contract is for one year. After that they can sign with a label.

I agree Chris was the best and IMHO the sexiest. *g*  I'm pretty sure he has a huge contract already. But all the finalists have to honor the Idol tour etc etc etc first.

maybemaybenot -> RE: American Idol? (5/11/2006 3:15:48 PM)

On Extra tonight, a " major band" is suppose to be making an offer to Chris for lead vocals. It will be interesting to see who it is. This guy has a huge career,  and last nights debacle will secure him even more levity than he had.

Having said that. I was pisssed. This is my first time watching Idol and my two faves were Chris and Taylor. Hard for me to chose between the two as to who is best. Yea, I know folks make fun of Taylor, but I love his soulful voice and his style of music.

Katherine is knock down gorgeous and I wonder how many guys are voting with their cocks in regards to her. Yup, she has a great voice....... for Broadway.. not the pop market. And she has done really lousy the last few weeks. Elliot, great voice, but I am afraid he is the reverse of Katherine... a little to dorky looking to grab the vote.

Elizabeth7777 -> RE: American Idol? (5/12/2006 3:52:22 AM)

I am so into American Idol it is embarrassing. My husband & I "don't do" reality shows...but I started watching Idol with my teenage boys last year. My excuse, of course, is that it's a great family activity...but the reality, lol, is that I voted for Chris for two solid hours after Tuesday's show, well after I'd put the kids to bed.

::blush::

I registered at least 20 votes for him, not my fault he got kicked off!

The husband holds his ears whenever anyone mentions American Idol but he's just surrounded. The tres' macho sports talk radio in Philly is full Idol talk as well. I tell him he might as well surrender now and just enjoy the ride. ;)

Chris gone, it's Eliott or Taylor. I'm also embarrassed to say that I just love Taylor. He makes me smile. I'd be tempted to see him in a live show, although I can't imagine buying a CD of his.

(Chris is going to have a great career, that's my bet, no matter what happened this week. He reeks star power.)

Hey folks... it's a popularity contest.  It's not "he who is best shall win", but "he who gets the most votes, however those votes are gotten."  That's why I don't watch these things, the people who are truly good and unique rarely win this stuff.  It's always the people with the most friends who like wasting their cash, or from area's that are desperate for a "hero" so they all vote for their home town honey.

On the other hand, I know they've had voting problems in the past.  Maybe that's the case again this time, you never know.

windy135 -> RE: American Idol? (5/14/2006 12:12:45 AM)

I was pissed off and my cheeks turned red...  now I don't care who wins..  lol

I do not watch the show (American Idol), but the name of the band is Fuel, and are from the small Podunk town in Tennessee where I currently reside. As I understand it, he did cover one of their songs on the show (Hemorrhage). I do know these guys and do also know for a fact that they are very talented artists and very hard working to boot. If Mr. Daughtry accepts the current offer on the table, he will in fact do quite well with these folks. The new album is completed and ready to record, and no doubt the material is incredible. In all honesty, I do hope he does accept, as he seems absolutely perfect for the job.

Arpig -> RE: American Idol? (5/14/2006 6:18:52 PM)

I must admit I was utterly underwhelmed at the news. I was very, very deeply unaffected.
