The x-men ARE marvel suerheroes. But I choose the X-Men illsutrated by Dave Cockrum in the 1970's above all else, except for the 1968 Neal Adams/Tom Palmer exploits.

But although you'll never find it, Miracleman by Alan Moore published by Eclipse is "where it's at", darker and deeper than The Watchmen. So, the narrative oriented NUMBERS question...
