Figured with all of the latex, rubber, patent leather and other fun materials being used by everyone here, someone should be able to help me.

I found a spool of plastic "cord" called S'Getti.  Similar to plastic craft lace, but this is a round, hollow cord that is a bit stretchy.  Ironically, every place I've seen it online claims it's solid, but it is hollow.  It's very inexpensive and just screams to be used as flogger material.  So, out came the scissors, measuring tape, shrink tubing......

Crap.

This stuff sticks together.  Not like STUCK stuck, but it definitely doesn't fall smoothly like I wanted and ends up getting snarled in tangles.  I rinsed it off in hot water, but as soon as it was dry, it started sticking again.  About the only thing I've found that keeps it apart so far is WD-40, and I would really rather not use that.  Talc doesn't seem viable, and it would be best if I could find something that wouldn't leave a residue.

I cannot seem to find a site that lists what kind of plastic it is, but it is shiny and has the feel of some latex garments I've handled.  Any ideas on how to keep it from sticking to itself would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, maybe try very lightly sanding each piece so the surfaces aren't quite perfectly smooth? It might be worth a try, at least with a few scrap pieces to see if it would work without destroying the visual appeal of the material.

This is a long shot and probably will not work, but I will offer it. A trick some manufactures use for latex clothing is soaking the item clorinated water. This removes the stickiness and allows the wearer to slide on the latex with out the use of powders or gels. Not sure if soaking the plastic in clorinated water would remove the stickiness or not. Like I said its a long shot.

Instead of WD-40 (Which after it evaporates simply leaves behind mineral oil) try silicone lube, the stuff lots of folks use to shine up their latex.  It's also less likely to harm the material.

As for chlorinated water, that's basically the simple way of vulcanizing the latex.  While it make make it less sticky, it may also make it less stretchy.

Okay, tried the bleach method, 50/50 mix, soaked overnight.  Very little if any change.

Sandpaper, well, let's just day that didn't turn out well.

So looks like I'll be trying the silicone lube.  Not sure how much it costs, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be much more expensive than the $2 roll of plastic.  Shame.

Have you tried using powdered cornstarch? I know it's ruined a fair number of those sticky stretchy toys I had as a kid...

Cornstarch might work, but it would be messy like talc.
