We didn't even drink raw milk on my cousin's farm where they had dairy cows.

I know, some people don't, some people do.  We did not have to buy milk and we got to learn how to make butter.  I remember when J did not have bucket done, I took the bucket and finished the chore for him.  I guess I have a thing for udders...

I don't really approve of teaching children to sugar their foods, but I'm not in charge of the world. I also believe that only baby cows should drink milk. Calcium is found in lots of dairy products & vegetables & meats, so milk really isn't necessary.

That having been said, when I was a girl, my great-uncle Hans had a small dairy farm. I loved staying there because he would go down to the barn, milk the cows, sell most of it to larger dairies, but always bring a bucket up to the back porch. We'd go out there & dip our cups into the bucket & drink that slightly warm milk directly from the cow. It really didn't hurt us. In his later years, the dairy industry got fussy & made him build a barn with a cement floor & get milking machines. It was very sad for him to see & he didn't live much longer after that. Guess he figured he'd lived too long already.

You think that's bad, try going to university with environmental lunatics that want to ban bottled water at the school due to landfills being unable to support it.

Have a Coke instead.  Get diabetes.  Save the Earth.  Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Then they'll say, "just drink from the tap!"  I don't even let my cats drink from the fucking tap that's how nasty it is.

Sorry for the rant.

This crap is ridiculous. I am getting so sick of hearing this kind of garbage going on in schools. I can understand taking out vending machines that offer sugary, junky, completely unhealthy foods and replacing them with more healthy choices like oranges and so on. But friggin apple juice is one of the most sugary juices out there and you don't hear them screaming about taking it out of schools. I can't even drink apple juice because of the sugar in it. When i was in school, there were hardly any heavy kids and a lot of us drank chocolate milk. I HAD to because regular milk literally makes me ill. Now i can't drink milk at all and a lot of dairy products also make me sick. What about soy milk alternatives for kids? Chocolate low-fat soy milk has less calories and sugar than regular milk yet nearly all the same vitamins and nutrients.

How are they supposed to grow up and learn to make healthy choices if the government makes all those decisions for them. I understand the whole getting kids to eat healthier thing, but most of that need to happen at home.

I won't drink out of the tap either, i buy gallon jugs of water that i use for drinking because the crap out of the faucet is so full of chlorine and so much other stuff it takes like it came out of the sewage line. Instead of bitching about all the bottles, why not just leave handy recycle bins around so that people can drop their bottles in a bin where the plastic will be recycled. That solves the landfill issue right there.
