ORIGINAL: Focus50 I agree, which is why there's probably a gun shop in every other shopping mall in the US. Gun availability is one of the consequences of the right to bear arms. Available to *criminals*, too! <sheesh> This right here renders your entire argument invalid and useless. You clearly have no clue about guns in America and only go by what you see on TV. Truth is, guns are more regulated than you think. No, there aren't "gun shops in every other shopping mall." In fact, I've been to every mall in this metroplex and there are no gun stores in any of them. In fact, in this metroplex, I can literally count THREE.....count them THREE gun stores that I am aware of, each of which is separated not by blocks, but my at least 20 miles or so. One's in Garland, one's in Plano and one's in Addison. True, there might be others I'm not aware of in areas I don't regularly travel, but in the areas I *do* travel, those three are it. The fact is, you know absolutely nothing about guns in America. Furthermore, the access to guns in those guns stores are limited, as best they can be, to law-abiding citizens. If those stores vanished overnight, and if the government troops came and took law-abiding citizens' guns away overnight, the criminals would *still* have or be able to attain them. As I said before, guns and their ownership pre-dated the 2nd Amendment. So they were already there. Removing the Amendment would not remove the guns. The criminals will still find away. Even if they did not, and they became the knife-wielding, ax handle-carrying criminals you have, we'd STILL need a way to defend ourselves from them. I don't know about you, but I'm not stupid enough to take on 3 armed intruders bare-handed. I may be fascinated with martial arts, but that doesn't make me Bruce Lee.
