WikiLeaks Threatens Its Own Leakers With $20 Million Penalty
   * By Kevin Poulsen
   * May 11, 2011

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange now makes his associates sign a draconian nondisclosure agreement that, among other things, asserts that the organization’s huge trove of leaked material is “solely the property of WikiLeaks,” according to a report Wednesday.

“You accept and agree that the information disclosed, or to be disclosed to you pursuant to this agreement is, by its nature, valuable proprietary commercial information,” the agreement reads, “the misuse or unauthorized disclosure of which would be likely to cause us considerable damage.”

The confidentiality agreement, revealed by the New Statesman, imposes a penalty of 12 million British pounds– nearly $20 million — on anyone responsible for a significant leak of the organization’s unpublished material.

I'm sorry, but this is indicative of problems on so many levels ...

I have a thought. . .

You let me know when you decided to take on multi-trillion dollar GDP countries with what you think is right - and don't monitor at 'draconian' levels information that is likely the difference between life in prison and a life that may allow for some small semblance of freedom.  We have more pacifism for convicted rapists than that man does for releasing private cables and first tier secrets - not top secret - information.

Stating neither for - or against - wikiLeaks, I think you should spend a few more moments pondering what happens when you step into waters deeper than you ever thought your meter would have to register.  Take comfort, and silence, in the fact that your biggest foe is too many stop signs at 3am after a trip to the bar..

Drive your fuel economy sub compact, watch your two party presidential debates, pay your taxes, ask for your antibiotics for viral infections and sit quietly.

I don't know who is supposed to watch the watchers, but I know what happens to a world where balance is missing.

No...you have a world of assumptions.

Enjoy. Wiki-leaks is here.

All better now.
