Get a knife and cut an outline around your hairy parts, then take a pair of tweezers and carefully peel the area of skin off your body, it should take all the hair with it. It's a very effective and permanent solution.

EclipseAbove -> RE: Body hair, and alternatives to getting rid of it (5/12/2011 5:17:29 PM)

I'm a pretty hairy guy (in the military, I had to shave twice a day to avoid being in trouble) and here are the solutions I use:

For genital areas, a razor in the shower works best for me. With a little practice, it only takes a minute in the shower every few days. The trick is not being shy about stretching the area to be shaved so it is completely taught and flat. Trying to shave an uneven surface is the best way to maximize the number of nicks, lacerations and amputations. But that gets into razor play....

For my back, a home waxing kit from the local drug store works pretty good - some brands are better than others. But it isn't something you can do yourself. Again, it takes some practice on the part of the other person. The good thing is that over time you don't need to wax as often and the growth is significantly less dense.

I leave my chest as is, but I'm certain waxing would be the best solution there.

I know a local salon does full male (and female) waxing (meaning they will wax EVERYTHING), but the salon specialist had to go to a special seminar. I'm not sure if there was some kind of certification involved or not.

Hope this helps.

Avon has some self-heating wax strips that you hold between your hands to warm up and then apply... i've used them, they worked pretty well for me

Also, there is the option of having the hair permanently removed through that one... dangit i forget what it's called.. but it's not done in salons, you can do a google for laser hair removal.. it's pretty permanent though after a few sessions...

i would use a non-scented talcum powder for between his cheeks.. i shave mine since i grow a small bit of hair there but i wear thongs so butt sweat isn't a big issue for me and i also do not work outdoors, so... but i know they do have some non-scented powder that's "super absorbant" for certain areas that may work for that issue

considering the hair follicles do not lay in the epidermis and actually lay in the upper dermis, i would think that method would not only be futile, but very dangerous and potentially lead to permanent, potentially disfiguring scarring.

Great options and advice guys! I knew I could count on you all to help me think of something I hadn't thought of before.

woops, using my alt. account. *embarrassing*

You might also want to check out a number of the high-quality (Not the crappy $1 ones) lady razors designed to shave legs/pits.  Many of the nicer ones also have a moisturizer bar built in--just be sure to check a small test area first to be sure you are not allergic/sensitive to it.  Invest in some of the good quality man-care products for after shave balms--avoid the alcohol ones which will sting like hell....and dry the skin.

For chaffing in the crack--my personal pick is Gold Bond body powder.  It is what a lot of military/disaster teams use out in the field under austere conditions.  It's relatively inexpensive and you can get a small travel size at Target or WalMart in the "travel" .99 section to try it out before you buy a bigger bottle of it.

Ashjor911 :  I have had my bum shaven a few times--it can be highly erotic, pleasurable and enjoyable, depending on context can also be humiliating if you like that sort of thing;  makes the skin very sensitive so if it is a pre-cursor to corporal punishment, it's an added bonus.  It also makes things easier to (not to be gross or graphic) keep clean back there.

I'm very hairy as well--bum, back, legs and arms, chest and even if I shave in the a.m. I've got a five-o'clock shadow by four.  I haven't worked up the nerve yet to shave myself below the neckline but contemplating it.  There are a number of salons near me that do waxing for men-- check your local estheticians.

good luck

Yanno, that's the one i was trying to think of but couldn't recall the brand. I use such a variety of products for skin and general physical care that i forget what brands sometimes are the good ones... gold bond is definitely top notch

They make a foot powder too (in a blue bottle)  The body is in a yellow/gold bottle.

have you tried Veet? i've never actually used it, but i've had friends who thought it was the most awesome thing ever.
i'm pretty surprised that back/chest waxing aren't more readily available. the suggestion to find out who body builders go to is a good one, though i think a lot of amateurs take care of it themselves.

A lot of the chemical solutions can cause skin reactions and you might not want to use them around the genital area (tried that once - nasty nasty nasty) and especially not around the anus, too risky.

With shaving and chemical hair removal you get pretty nasty stubble, with waxing the hair gets torn out by the root, over time you grow less and less hair, it simply becomes a lot sparser, finer and silkier, not an expert but my guess would be that the hair follicle being torn out weakens and stunts the growth...

The reason why I mentioned body builders is that when they are competing, they all have to be smooth (the Brazilian rain forest peeking out from under posing pouches doesn't get them points), so they are very very likely to know places that do complete hair removal. When I moved here, I couldn't find a salon that does "everything below the neck", quite a few told me rather prudishly that they won't do anything that requires removing underwear. Since I hate the stubble from shaving, I was in a bit of a jam, you don't want to wax your arm pits and your genital area yourself, doesn't work (found out by painful trial and error), so I simply asked one of the guys who was training for a body building competition and he pointed me towards a place where they don't mind waxing it all off.

I will 2nd the no Veet on the man bits/girly bits. I know someone who got a nasty little burn on his balls from it.

I don't like long curly male pubies.

I would rather kiss my yorkie's butt than to get (another one) caught between my teeth!

SomethingCatchy -> RE: Body hair, and alternatives to getting rid of it (5/13/2011 1:28:36 PM)

Yes! Any kind of hair cream on the nut sack is a bad bad thing. Did it to an ex a long time ago, and the results were ER serious.

If i could give thumbs up or a rating on this one it would be a 5 star post! I HATE pubic hair in my mouth or in my teeth. It's disgusting

SomethingCatchy -> RE: Body hair, and alternatives to getting rid of it (5/15/2011 6:32:17 PM)

Well we tried shaving yet again. I thought buying brand new 'lady' razors that I absolutely love for my bikini line would make a difference, but it didn't. The fun lasted for about a day and a half. Today he's broken out in a really painful looking rash, just like last time, despite using all of the techniques I've heard of and read here/reliable googled sources (such as a razor company's own website).

I am having him use a very high quality lotion with aloe and buttermilk. My next try will be my own Neem oil concoction that helps reduce my acne flare ups, and then next is a steroid based cream.

I'll let this grow out a bit and then try waxing a small area that isn't constantly rubbed by clothing and see how the skin reacts to that. If that doesn't work, we'll try an epilator. If that doesn't work... I guess I'll just deal with it.

DesFIP -> RE: Body hair, and alternatives to getting rid of it (5/16/2011 4:33:34 AM)

If there are beauty schools in the area, they might know which salons do male waxing.

lally2 -> RE: Body hair, and alternatives to getting rid of it (5/16/2011 5:48:18 AM)

over here in the UK there are various creams that you apply afterwards to reduce/minimise hair re-growth after depilliation - theyre excellent
