SternSkipper -> Question about posting functions... (5/12/2011 9:42:35 PM)

The Pink Floyd got me thinking.... I just put a really great board+mics recording up on the web hidden in a site I am building for a non-profit so I could turn on a few guys in DC I was at this show with.

I want to know if I can go back in and edit my post to remove a link for an indeterminate amount of time. Or after a while, does each thread lock out the poster?

You getlocked out pretty quickly. (though maybe you could write to a Mod, tell them you want to put up a temporary link, and get assurance they would delete it for you later.)

If you want a temporary link, change the URL.

You got the hosting I assume right ? Well make a new file called i.e.

http www myshit dudewithbeard xyz.html

the original file could be :

http www myshit dudewithbeard zyx html

Just delete xyz when you're done sharing it. And note if it's any good I will rip it. I can rip off of anything. I can also get pictures and videos from any website or program, ANY. I've been at it for a very long time.

you could also use tinyurl to make the link, then cancel the tinyurl link later on.. it's a redirected linking system off a site that offers it to allow you to post a link that doesn't take up a paragraph (or just a really long line)

Ummm yeah, I do control the host but it's MUCH more complicated ... I have long standing friends who pluck my 'show of the month' from there and I don't want to complicate their lives by having to rename directories ... although... since it's a protected directory... I could make a dupe of the file to another name... thanks... didn't give that a thought... I am normally used to cheap clients that restrict their online space to save money. This one's unlimited though, so yeah that is an option
