I understand the woman's desire for vengeance, but....

I dunno.

In a purely intellectual sense, I agree.

But emotionally, I think that his punishment should be even harsher, to ensure the removal of his genes from the human gene pool.

I agree that acid in the eyes would be cruel and unusual punishment.

On the other hand, a well placed bullet to the brain would assure he never hurts anyone else in such a cruel and unusual way,

twistedwillow -> RE: Truly an Eye for An Eye (5/14/2011 3:54:52 AM)

I just can't seem to muster up the give a f*ck, to care if its cruel and unusual punishment for him.

An eye for an eye works for me, particularly in such a cruel and calculated crime.

falccon -> RE: Truly an Eye for An Eye (5/14/2011 3:59:44 AM)

prick deserves it. he also needs some on his genitals,

pahunkboy -> RE: Truly an Eye for An Eye (5/14/2011 6:24:58 AM)

Man- I thought I was negative.  This story sure is a downer.

gothikbutterfly -> RE: Truly an Eye for An Eye (5/14/2011 6:29:33 AM)

I actually agree with twistedwillow. IMHO the punishment should fit the crime. Her eyes were burned by acid, so should his be. It makes sense, whether its barbaric or not.

pahunkboy -> RE: Truly an Eye for An Eye (5/14/2011 6:34:57 AM)

why are people so mean?

gothikbutterfly -> RE: Truly an Eye for An Eye (5/14/2011 6:39:27 AM)

To be honest with you, not everyone in the world is a nice person. Its a fact of life. There are mean people, and there are nice people. But sometimes, IMHO, the mean outweighs the nice and thats what people don't understand.

pahunkboy -> RE: Truly an Eye for An Eye (5/14/2011 7:22:24 AM)

Men get rejected from woman 24-7.    It is part of how things go.   How many men are like this guy?    Love can never be forced.

yep same here.
this was premeditated
I cannot think of a viable high road "equitable" solution and likewise this does not rise to the give a fuck level for him.
In fact her wishes should be granted.

GreedyTop -> RE: Truly an Eye for An Eye (5/14/2011 8:03:58 AM)

I think that not only should he be blinded by acid, his testicles should blinded in the same way....

Owner59 -> RE: Truly an Eye for An Eye (5/14/2011 8:05:49 AM)

Only five drops each?

Pussies!

gothikbutterfly -> RE: Truly an Eye for An Eye (5/14/2011 8:07:52 AM)

Can you really blind testicles GT? If that is the case, I have plenty of guys I would like to do that to [;)][;)]

Real0ne -> RE: Truly an Eye for An Eye (5/14/2011 8:11:29 AM)

I know very little about their law, but it seems there is no viable solution.

If they forced him to support her for the rest of her life her life may well be shortened.

I dont see it rising to the level of execution which leaves a large gray area to look at.

In the old days this is where people would wind up being a slave to someone for real, to pay for damages.

kdsub -> RE: Truly an Eye for An Eye (5/14/2011 9:48:18 AM)

I always seem to end up defending a position that I have no sympathy with. I am as guilty as anyone here in wishing this man suffer the same fate as this woman…but…I’d like to believe that if the decision were mine I could but those feelings of vengeance aside and punish him in a civilized manner.

Iran’s justice system is almost straight out of the 6th century and a disgrace to the civilized world.

PS.....Now bring on the next death penalty case so we can argue how civilized the US justice system is.

It's clear that humanity still needs to evolve beyond "garbage in, garbage out."

That is a primitive vengeance. Christianity made an end to that barbarity.

However, the perpetrator is as primitive, which in my opinion is characteristic of populations that circumcise their males.

I would prefer for the male and all his male relatives to be killed and for the whole village / city to convert to Christianity. These barbaric customs must be dealt with harshly. Females must be inviolable.

You did mean this as satire, didn't you?

While I said I understood her desire (of seven years!), I can't believe in such savagery. And how could a doctor participate? I think this is worse that Hussein in Iraq slicing off an ear of deserting soldiers. Doctors did that, too.

They are idiots unable to separate the actions of a monster from the justice system of a civilised country. Who is going to be blinding the person who deliberately blinds the accused in this case? Is that sadistic individual ok to do this because they get to justify their actions as those of a mere instrument of the state? Let us face it who in their right mind would want to deliberately pour acid in someone's eyes? Only a sadistic sicko, plenty of those here it seems. Some get to do legally what others do illegally when you go down this route.
