Sanity -> RE: IMF Chief Arrested On Rape Charges (5/16/2011 12:07:15 PM)

Hint - I never posted an opinion about the IMF itself, just the mans politics based on his leading the French Socialist partys assault on Sarkozy

quote:

ORIGINAL: juliaoceania

yeah... how many posts will it take before you are doing that? I suppose if you ever figure out what the IMF really does, and how capitalistic their practices are... you might come to love this guy. He is just the type of man you tend to applaud

Give it a few posts, itll be the maids fault...

Smells fishy. It could be just a standard procedure to replace the man. The maid will be likely to commit suicide soon because of emotional trauma.

Or she will drop her allegations and have a very large bank account in Switzerland after all of this is over

pahunkboy -> RE: IMF Chief Arrested On Rape Charges (5/16/2011 12:07:17 PM)

Do you even know who owns the IMF?

Look it up.

You do realize that the IMF is not a socialist scheme, but a way in which Neoliberalists can run the world economy.... meaning it indebts poor countries to rich ones so that they can dictate governmental policies of those countries in ways that are favorable to Western Capitalists....

Look up Structural Adjustment Programs, and then get back to me about how this is a liberal socialist plot[8|]...

I saw where sanity said he was a socialist and I am guessing he got that from the article where is said "Strauss-Kahn had been widely expected to leave the IMF soon to enter the race as the leading Socialist Party candidate,"

but I missed where he called it a liberal socialist plot?

but to the article itself.....

I hope they nail the bastard if it's true. I bet he thought he was home free when he boarded that plane[8D]

juliaoceania -> RE: IMF Chief Arrested On Rape Charges (5/16/2011 12:10:27 PM)

I have read scholarly articles on the topic. I have taken classes that addressed SAPs, you on the other hand need Fox news to tell you what reality is.... I bet you thought that these loans went to doing things like supporting the health and welfare of a population... they don't. IMF loans go to support capitalist enterprises....

On the African continent IMF project after IMF project just enabled capitalists in getting raw minerals off Africa. They did not fund roads between countries on the continent. They did not fund projects that improved infrastructure in a way that aided Africans being economically independent. They gave them to petty dictators, buying them off... etc.... these bastards are criminals of the first order.

You can post how this guy was a "socialist" all you want, it does not make it so...

Socialists all over the globe oppose the IMF. I can find organization after organization of socialist based groups that abhor the practices of the IMF. What the media says about this guy and his left leanings means nothing to me.

mnottertail -> RE: IMF Chief Arrested On Rape Charges (5/16/2011 12:11:30 PM)

Yeah, I gotta go with Sanity on this one, he posted something that politically is totally unrelated to the rape, not at all like this is totally and politically releated to rape:

http://www.republicansforrape.org/legislators/

Sanity always reduces everything as some left wing conspiracy, as if all leftists are rapists, etc. It is laced in almost every fucking post he puts on this board. He is obsessed with doing everything he can to discredit anything he links to socialism... even when it isn't.

In this case it is comical, because the man that raped this woman is not a leftist, he is a neoliberalist

While I agree that sanity posts some off the wall shit. Putting words in his mouth and claiming he says things that anyone that can read, can see he didn't say, only makes the one doing it look like an idiot. The fact that you think you know what he is thinking on a regular basis says more about you than it does him. Now people could have ignored the implied insults and actually talked about the article, but obviously it is more fun to slam someone.

I find it interesting that you never notice the ones on the left who do that. The only exception I can think of is DG in the muslim thread and you admitted you usually like it when he goes off like that. Of course he is usually going off on someone from the right so maybe that is the difference.

juliaoceania -> RE: IMF Chief Arrested On Rape Charges (5/16/2011 12:22:50 PM)

Did you read is OP? Do you read half the crap he posts on here? Do you think he would have posted this article at all if the words "socialist" were not in it?

quote:

Dominique Strauss-Kahn is a big time French socialist, he was going to run against Sarkozy and was even leading in the polls. Thats all changed now... this has in fact thrown the IMF for a loop along with France's political scene

He is accused of raping a chamber maid in his hotel room, which was a $3000.00 per night luxury suite. I guess it really pays to be a big time socialist these days?

I wonder why he mentioned him being a "socialist" twice if he didn't feel it was important to the story, or his motivation behind posting it. He OFTEN posts little derogatory crap about "leftists" "socialists", etc etc etc... it pervades most of his rants.

Now, in this case it kinda blows up in his face, because this man is right in line with his view of how the world should be ran

There are many people on the left that post here that do not appreciate me because I do not always share their opinions or their delivery style. Just because you do not notice it much doesn't mean it isn't true. I could think of a handful off the top of my head, but since I do not want to bring other posters into this conversation I suggest you look into topics about religion and immigration to familiarize yourself.

I am more than sure some of these people would be more than happy to tell you they don't care for me or my posting style and they have had run ins with me over it

If he is leading the polls vs. Sarkozy as the French Socialist Party candidate... one can very safely assume that he is in fact a big time socilalist

Whether or not that fact is palatable to you is beside the point

Actions are much more indicative of who someone is than the label they attach to themselves. I could call myself a purple People Eater, it wouldn't make me one. I mean, people call Obama a socialist, and he isn't one, either[8|]

Namely Bill Clinton. To be perfectly honest, signing the Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999. would have been the least of this country's worries if they treated me like that. [:)]

Print this out and keep it on ya whenever a presidential candidate gets up to speak folks:

   Fiscal policy Governments should not run large deficits that have to be paid back by future citizens, and such deficits can only have a short term effect on the level of employment in the economy. Constant deficits will lead to higher inflation and lower productivity, and should be avoided. Deficits should only be used for occasional stabilization purposes.

   Redirection of public spending from subsidies (especially what neoliberals call "indiscriminate subsidies") and other spending neoliberals deem wasteful toward broad-based provision of key pro-growth, pro-poor services like primary education, primary health care and infrastructure investment

   Tax reform– broadening the tax base and adopting moderate marginal tax rates to encourage innovation and efficiency;

   Interest rates that are market determined and positive (but moderate) in real terms;
   Floating exchange rates;

   Trade liberalization – liberalization of imports, with particular emphasis on elimination of quantitative restrictions (licensing, etc.); any trade protection to be provided by law and relatively uniform tariffs; thus encouraging competition and long term growth

   Liberalization of the "capital account" of the balance of payments, that is, allowing people the opportunity to invest funds overseas and allowing foreign funds to be invested in the home country

   Privatization of state enterprises; Promoting market provision of goods and services which the government cannot provide as effectively or efficiently, such as telecommunications, where having many service providers promotes choice and competition.

   Deregulation – abolition of regulations that impede market entry or restrict competition, except for those justified on safety, environmental and consumer protection grounds, and prudent oversight of financial institutions;

   Legal security for property rights; and,...

   Financialisation of capital.

A more close to home example might be W, who led your polls, attained the presidency twice and now isnt really a fiscal conservative.

Apparently this guy is everything the republicans have failed at politically, he's fiscally sound, and a socialist.

But the manifold and manifest shortcomings of the republicans aside, I think it is all agreed that he didn't rape her (if he did) out of some sense of political ideology. He would have raped Sarcozy's wife if it was political.

Here is what wiki says about this man

Dominique Gaston André Strauss-Kahn (French pronunciation: [d?minik st?os kan]; born 25 April 1949), often referred to in the popular press as DSK,[2][3] is a French economist, lawyer, and politician, and a member of the Socialist Party of France (PS). He became the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on 28 September 2007, with the backing of his country's president, Nicolas Sarkozy.
He is a full professor of economics at the Paris Institute for Political Studies ("Sciences Po").
Strauss-Kahn was Minister of Economy and Finance from 1997 to 1999 as part of Lionel Jospin's "Plural Left" government. He belongs to the right wing of the PS (which is on the center-left of French politics) and sought the nomination in the primaries to the Socialist presidential candidacy for the 2007 election, but he was defeated by Ségolène Royal in November 2006.

The IMF is a FUND (hahahaha.. try financial army) owned by, yet existing independently (though not entirely) of the World Bank. Who owns the World Bank probably Satan or the greylians

That it's perhaps the most malevolent business model in history is enough for me.
