Its comical to read the conservatives, rant and rave about something they still dont understand. According to the OP, 38 waivers of the 1040 issued (that's a 3% failure rate) are being waved around, like some sort of justification that the whole of the ACA is a total failure. The length and depth conservatives will go to to justify total bullshit is simply laughable. And they should be laughed at, as they STILL don't have a solid arguement.

Fast Reply The reason the Republicans have been trying to do everything they can to misdirect, repeal, reform, unfund, and derail "obamacare" is because they know that every time a new provision of it is implemented that it will become popular with the American people. It is like Social Security, it is entrenched, it is popular, and people want it to continue... The more benefit the average person gets from healthcare reform, the more popular it will become....in fact, if it is successful enough, it might morph into Medicare for Everyone... and that is exactly what the insurance industry is fighting. They want to continue to force us to pay highway robbery prices for substandard care so they can suck the life out of this country one citizen at a time. The insurance industry adds no value to our medical system, all they do is take resources from what could be used to deliver care, extending the life and improving the quality of it. Edited to add, if Obama is smart, his reelection team will encourage the use of the term "Obamacare", because it is actually a selling point for his reelection campaign

Another tid bit from the same article... Most requests for waivers have been accepted, but dozens have been denied because they "did not demonstrate that compliance with the minimum annual limits requirements would significantly increase premiums or decrease access to benefits," an HHS spokeswoman told The Hill in January. The waivers are meant as a stopgap measure until new state-run insurance exchanges open in 2014. Annual dollar limits will also be abolished by then. Something else they dont want anyone to know.

Obama care was signed into law. The law should apply to everyone. If it were a good law that actually made sense, there would be no need for 1,300 waivers to excempt friends of the administration.

~FR Lets take McDonald's, since its one of the largest companies to get a waiver. The waiver is good for a year, and they can reapply each year until 2014, which is when the states are supposed to have their state insurance set up. Now, McDonald's employees many people. They also pay those many people minimum wage. The mini-insurance plans McDonald's offers wont cover much, and there is typically a $2000 cap on what they pay... but it will get their employees into a Drs office to be seen. Why on earth would anyone complain about a company who is keeping their employees covered by a simple waiver? Shall we add another 2,3, 4 percent to those who have no coverage at all? Day One insurance... which is what many of these people have, costs about an hour or two of wages per person a week, and thats just for an individual plan. That may not be alot for a pencil pusher or an IT guy or someone in the medical field... but thats alot of money to someone who is only working 20 hours a week at minimum.

Mcdonald's employees were covered before Obama care. After the bill was signed, they now need a waiver to continue. That law is a joke.

Covered for a maximum payout of benefits a year to $2000 dollars. The new law requires a cap of no less than $75000, which the state programs will have to be in compliance with. Can you imagine the costs, at this point, of the increased coverage would run the employees who are making minimum wage?

Giving the waiver allows the employees to stay partially insured until they can get real iinsurance in 2014. Seems a reasonable step to cover the implementation period of the ACA.
