But have you enrolled clients from CM?  I am talking about online traffic at CM (CollarMe) not CC (CollarChat).

Yes, I have.  My rules are that I don't "cold call" (eg, I never solicit business by emailing other people uninvited, that is spam) and I rarely talk about the business side of my kink life on the forums unless it's relevant to a discussion.  So I'm sure I get somewhat less economic use out of this site than "professionals" who do not conduct themselves in what I would consider a very professional manner.

We'll have to disagree here.  No matter how much the investment was in time, anything greater than zero in financial cost when obtained from free is still profit.  I know it's worked that way for folks selling products and other services.  I'll be happy to give you a few names through private email who have successfully picked up clients for sessions through CM.  Either that, or they looked Me in the face and lied.

If I spend hours posting on the forums, and my return is one session booked, it is not a net profit, it is a net loss.  I could be spending those hours MUCH more profitably doing other things and making more money.

I definitely have booked clients from the "other side", just not the forums specifically.

I don't think spamming people leads to any results, apart from getting you blocked and possibly reported...

As for the ROI of postings, I absolutely agree, if catching a client is the only reason why you post, it's a waste of time, during that time you could be earning money in any given job you can hold down, or you could spend that time getting registered in Domme directories online, because a bigger part of the people looking there is your target audience than in a lifestyle forum...

Fast reply.

I'll answer completely honestly. Last year, I earned around 24k from being pro. I'd say about 4k came from collarme. And those are long time clients. If I were to do everything I was asked to do when I am approached for a professional session, I'd be broke and with multiple std's.

Maybe I'm not phrasing Myself properly.  I'd agree with you and Lady C if looking at from the aspect of the forums being a cost effective tool for drumming up business.  By far, there are way better venues for that.  However, if you're looking at it from the angle that the forums are entertainment with the fringe benefit that it can pull a client every now and again, it's a bit different.  The CM forums are pretty much kick back time anyway, aren't they?  Even if no clients came from it, folks who happen to be pros will still be here to shoot the breeze, talk about topics, etc.  That's why I say if a client comes from it, that's just a bonus.

Maybe, but so far that bonus hasn't materialized.  Doesn't matter; it's not why I'm here.  If it was, I'd have constructed a fantasy persona to post here that was a lot more appealing to single male submissives than "weird genderbent kinkster in a committed poly triad".

LadyPact -> RE: -=Pro Dommes, how much business does CM generate for you?=- (5/20/2011 8:26:25 AM)

In your case, LnT, it might also be that the service you provide on the professional side is different than the average pro/client session.  I could be wrong here, but I think that the 'trainer' part is a different niche.  It's a rather specific service, so that might make the difference.  Just an opinion.

Could be, and I think the reason why LnT and myself never gotten any clients from here is that we both never gave the impression of being overly service orientated tops, as in "Just name your fetish and let me know what I should do for you and how you'd like to be trained... As long as you pay, almost everything is possible and we call your kink fulfillment domination, that makes it all alright..."

ElanSubdued -> RE: -=Pro Dommes, how much business does CM generate for you?=- (5/21/2011 1:12:55 PM)

RS,

quote:

With the past 30 days, more than 700 Pro Dommes have logged into CM, many of them new.  That is about 1 per hour.  Of those 700 Dommes, 350 maintain their presence here logging within the last 24 hour period.  That's one every 4 minutes.  This is only the tip of the iceberg as I did not search other keywords that are code for hire like blackmail, session etc.

I realize I've missed the bulk of the party and that the discussion has transmogrified, but... based entirely on non-statistically valid sampling (i.e. observation every time I log on and from speaking with other, male submissives here), I'd say your numbers reflect much of the "feel" of the "other side", in so far as a male submissive is concerend.  That's why I spend very little time there.  Pro Domme ads are of no interest to me whatsoever.

As with many other things, I think we have to look at the entire scale.  I have every reason to believe what you are saying above is true.  I'm not familiar with your pro interactions so I have no interpretation to make.  What I know of LnT's business I have only gathered from the forums.  Kink or not, if someone was looking for a physical trainer or nutritionist, I have every reason to believe she's more than qualified.

Yet, that's not really the whole story.  We've got some here that it's rather obvious that they post in an attempt to drive business their way (if I said "it must be time to pay rent, who would you think of?)  or try to attract people to their 'pay for membership or training' sites.  It's commercialism at best and manipulation at worst.  At least, that's how I see it.

LadyConstanze -> RE: -=Pro Dommes, how much business does CM generate for you?=- (5/22/2011 2:30:43 AM)

I think it might work on the short run, but long term it doesn't work quite as well. I assume the differences from country to country aren't all that great and in Europe I've seen gals going to lifestyle forums, trying to drum up business by being very accommodating (i.e. willing to cater to almost every fetish), some of them had the odd client from here and there, but there wasn't much of client retention and in the end one unhappy client can make such a stink, that in the end it does cost them more business. My take is that submissives aren't stupid, most care about kink compatibility, especially if they pay and they pick up if somebody is just doing it to make a bit of cash or if somebody actually enjoys it, so by offering services you aren't happy with and catering to every fetish, you are really not doing yourself any favors, not in terms of their own well-being and especially not in terms of reputation and client retention.
