Does anyone here have any experience selling, buying or sharing art through Artbreak?  Was your experience good, bad or indifferent?  Have a website you prefer over this particular one?

This starving arty type wants to know.

Artbreak website.

I've been scanning the artists...

have you tried emailing any of the artists with your question?

Not yet, i stumbled upon this site just moments ago.  Still eyeballing the pricing and wondering if i have produced/could produce something that suits the feel of the place.

i think i'll sleep on it. Here's to dreams of fruitful creative endeavors and meals that don't consist of wish sandwiches.

well i'm a commision artist and now work through word of mouth, although i used to have my own site. so something like this isn't something i would use as a selling medium, but i can see it being a good outlet for others with no reputation. the problem i see with something like that site is maybe not knowing who you are buying from. if the site has a really good reputation and inspects artists work for quality, and by that i mean quality of medium used and how it's been used so that the pricing on that score is worth it. no point paying huge amounts for an oil that is actually accrylic based or inferiour materials so that it fades or cracks.

the site may not be actually bothered about who sells through them or quality produced by that person. so i guess as always it's a case of buyer bewear and do your research first. of course, art being subjective, it's only ever worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

that's probably not much help really.

i posted before seeing this. i didn't realised you were asking from a point of selling.

my advice to you would be to take your work to a local art seller. somewhere that sells well and maybe does framing too. they can give you a starting point on what your work would sell for. use the best quality materials and go from there.
