In our flat, if someone does something foolish, another person will say;
" This is why we can't have nice things "
or
" What did you learn ? "
Well, i am baking some brownies that i mean to transport. i thought i'd bake them in a foil pan so that i didn't have to worry about getting the pan back. What did i learn ? Tin foil pans fold when you try to lift them out of the oven...

Has anyone else learned anything this week ?

Okay, not really.

Oh yes, those evil foil pans. I learned about those about three months ago. When I saw them in the store, I thought, "Brilliant! Less scouring for me!" Then later I learned "TWO hands, and carefully or you will spill grease all over the kitchen floor. More mopping for me." Sigh.

This week... let's see. I know I learned about fifty things, but I've forgotten 48 of them by now (I have to do that due to my job). Ok, so I learned that my instincts/intuitions/feelings about things that have no rational cause are getting stronger in a certain area and that I need to start trusting them more, rather than just dismissing them as irrational and unfounded.

And the other thing I learned was that a cup of green tea has more antioxidants in it than cranberry juice (or so it claims). It certainly tastes better, so I am suspicious. I do not know a lot about antioxidants other than they are very good and "cleansing" for you. I picture them as frothy little white scrubbing bubbles rushing madly through my veins and arteries as I drink that daily sour glass of pure cranberry juice.

This has the possibility to be a perpetual thread. Although admitting secrets to the world is fun (for some), sharing one's learning is also quite fun.

That's a good thing to learn.

I learned something similar this evening: to err on the side of caution and not assume. When I don't do that, it's a form of "taking a short cut." Those sorts of short cuts suck. They take you further from your destination.

My mother (86) came to town and we had a huge family get together, the 1st time in 10 years we've all been together. I learned several things...

1) That while I am the 2nd youngest of my siblings (4 total), I look as though I am the eldest by far. God damned well preserved, clean living namby pamby shits!!!

2) The fact that my cousin (same age as me) just gets better and better looking as she gets older. Almost makes me wish I was from West Virginia or something.

3) That my nephew has grown into a really interesting young man who is pursuing a doctorate in a completely unemployable field simply because he loves it...my kind of guy!!

4) That my daughter's boyfriend has a lot of class and he cleans up really fucking well, but can still stick his foot in his mouth...TMI dude, TMFI!!

5) That my sister is selling off all my father's rare books, which are the only thing I have ever asked for as my inheritance.

And last but not least....
6) My family is really a lot of fun!! Damn we laughed!

I learned today that if you tell some one that it might be a good idea to get their wallet out when they are next on line, instead of waiting till after they have finished running up the bill, I'm the one that looks bad.

What is that guy thinking? Is he not aware of how stores work? Is he considering stealing the items instead of paying for them, but changes his mind at the last second? Has he been counting the purchases and thinks he is going to be the 1 millionth customer and get his stuff for free? Does he come from someone place where they use fingerprints as credit card numbers?
