"Why does that sound so much like one of those mob protection plans? You know where businesses pay the mob not to break into and vandalize their establishments. Hey Term- send me money and I promise not to break into your house! "

They stopped doing that. No wait they didn't, they now work for the government.

T^T

Why are you bothering to respond to me ? I'm stupid. Now when your yacht disappears get in the welfare line. Don't catch on fire, I forgot how to take a piss.

Term, I've been called "stupid" and other things in here simply because a few individuals don't "agree" with me.
Anyone who has a differant opinion than them is.....(fill in the expletive.") And boy are they good at ducking an argument or avoiding questions.
I think that after 10 or 20 years it's no longer "foreign aid" but "dependance."
And many of those countries have been bleeding the U.S. Taxpayer for 30 or 40 years now!
So what's that, an entitlement? They're "entitled" to the U.S. Taxpayer's money?

But then, you're offering opinions, not wildly silly statements.

[I wonder where I parked the yacht?]

Wasn't it Baby Doc Duvalier who was shuttled off to France under Clinton with $267 Million U.S. dollars? I wonder where that money came from?

Ah, popeye, you're always so enjoyably, invariably wrong.  Baby Doc fled Haiti with the money in 1986, on Ronald Reagan's watch.

You would think that after that length of time we would have given them some real solutions that involved self-support instead of just continuing to funnel money into countries who will apparently never be self sufficient.

That's the purpose of the World Bank and related agencies.

popeye, obviously, I'm talking about preventing a mass panic migration, not picking up a boat here and there.

And surely you're aware foreign aid didn't start with this administration, right? And that Bush's spending increased it from $15 billion in 2001 to $23 billion 2006?

Music, have you ever been to Haiti? Where are they going to get the wood to build boats?
The Coast Guard is well equipped to prevent "mass migrations" at sea. How about a "mass panic" from Mexico? Could or even would Oblunder be capable of handling that?
And yes I'm aware of the "foreign aid" numbers and Bush and I wasn't in favor of it then either!

Right pops, the coasties were REALLy well equipped to handle mariel.
