People who contribute little but sarcasm or hate also get blocked.

Celeste?  Hello????????  I'm not always sarcastic....  Hello?????  Please unblock me!  PLEASE!!!!

Well, fine.  Screw you. Wait, you can't read this anyway.

Dear Collarme,

Due to the fact that Celeste didn't answer my calling her name as I was typing it, I assume she has blocked me.  Therefore, I will publicly say she's more that a bita deranged truble.  She's Alotta Deranged Truble, capitalized to insult her subliness.  So all of you, remember that.

And Celeste, you SO just missed out on a gem!  Wait, that was sarcastic again.

I'm no good at this.

Yours,

benji

Not really.  He's male.

And I don't have anything BUT my outdoor voice, so I'd mostly be yelling at him, as he's whispering at me.  No fun for him, really.

But thank you.  Maybe?

Yours,

benji

You already did that in another thread.  Besides, I think I still have my huevos rancheros..........  1........2.... yep! (sorry bout the wait....  I had to reach around my breakfast sausage, which always takes a while)

So apparently, you neither block nor neuter the sarcastic.

Hmph.  Good to know.

Yours,

benji

I am in principle against blocking. Nevertheless, I am attracted by Celeste's reasons for blocking: I admire her efficiency.

I have blocked about half of the persons (1) who approached me by email (2). I did so reluctantly and only after giving fair warning.

As long as they don't interfer in my fun, I'm a live and let live sorta gal. :)

However, if you want to come on down to MN and put your.. eggs on the line, do feel free, pooch. Alternatively, if you 'want' me to block you.. you have only to ask. I always block people who make the request. :)

Ok, that's enough of thread high jacking for me.

Celeste

I've never blocked anybody here on the forums. I did have to check because I thought there might be this one person on the otherside. But no. :) I prefer just to ignore. It saves me the trouble of having to figure out what new nic they've come up with to get around the block.

I block a lot and for several reasons.

Well, you have the most comprehensive system of all the respondents. All in all, it seems to me the feature is in moderate use --- and that it is most heavily relied on by the females here to help screen their email and the occasional but expected male crackpot.

One of the reasons I don't use the blocking feature is that I believe I should be able to take and endure anything or anyone, especially in the wild, wild universe of MB posting. Today, though, my patience was truly tested.

As for avatars, I must say I'm a HUGE FAN of LA's rabbit.

I don't block anyone on either side as yet and don't see the need to. I skip, ignore or delete what I don't like. The only reason I would block is if the person was spewing poison at me. Not worth the bother of something like that making it to the inbox.

Don't know why anyone would EVER want to block you. I read these forums, see your posts and most of them crack me up. I love a good sense of humor. Figure life's short so why not laugh alittle. Thanks for the laughs benji.

Ok, thank you for clarifing that for me... I do understand that... I've had people add me, the little window pops up asking me to add them to my buddy list.. ok? Well, on a couple of occasions I did this and then messaged them asking how they know me? Wow... did they get shitty with me!! Then swore that they didn't send me the invite to begin with.... Yeah, on IM... I have a huge list of people that put in a list titled "people I no longer talk to".

Amen. At least I know that I am not alone in getting contacted by morons. I also have a tendancy to put up a status message 'doing the mommy thing' or 'Intelligent Conversation only!!' or 'VIPS ONLY!!' and get off the wall IMs from people I don't know of from people who think that they fall into the 'VIP.'

I love to get the 'add me' from people that I don't know, and when you deny them, they get pissy and call you all sorts of mean things, I just laugh and add them to BOS; its almost like they expect EVERYONE to add them without knowing them.

If I get a message from someone I don't know or remember I ask, 'do i know you.' Most often the response is, 'no, but i want to get to know you.' Then all that other drivel.

Thank goodness for 'block,' 'ignore' and 'hide' functions.

I have only blocked one person on the other side, only because he refused to stop emailing me after several attempts of telling him that I did not want to communicate with him anymore.

I have never blocked anyone on the forums.  If they are a hard read, or I don't agree with their attitude, I can skim or skip over the post. And there's an awful lot of quoting, so it isn't necessarily effective anyway.
On the email side, I have blocked a few, for the obvious reasons, but only a few.

Edited to add:  I don't go into chatrooms, and I don't use any IM programs, so there is no reason to block anyone from any list.  I don't have a list!  *Smile*

I've heard you can create a new profile which would appeal to the dregg... contact them from it, gain their confidence, then their personal info or e-mail address... then add their addy to every opt-in e-mail list you can find... use it to sign up for all kinds of shit.... just keep the dreggs busy with other things and they will leave you alone... or so I've heard?  Has anyone tried this?

Of course you could always just hunt them down like a dog and force them to eat a spinach or collard/mullet sandwich... if you get tired and hungry along the way chasing them you can stop, turnaround head back and eat the sandwich yourself on the way home and just simply ignore the dreggs...

I have not blocked here on the forums.. I tend to even want to read the posts by those who are diametrically opposite to me in terms of thinking... but I have blocked in the mail function.
