I think "The Beast" was delivered too late for Bush II to have used it, but I could be wrong on that. I seriously doubt there is only the one, as well. We have two identical 747s for him, for crying out loud. It/they will stay in service, after he has gone home to Chicago. Probably with some modifications. [;)]

The History channel has a documentary on Presidential rides. It might be out there, if you search it right.

There is no problem with the car.  The car is/was designed to be
a stretch limo with a normal ride height.  And it seems to do that well.

If you will look 5 sec into the video you will see that the normal wheelbase
car that went before it almost bottomed.  The problem was not with the
inanimate object, the car.  The problem is with the poor planning by the
people who laid out the route. 

The question should be this:  Who is the idiot responsible for planning
to drive a car with that wheelbase over that driveway?  Somebody was
supposed to have looked over the entire route well before the president
got there.  The real scary question is: What else did they miss??

You do know, according to pahunk, that its a US embassy, therefore its the US who built it, therfore its the US who is at fault, therefore its the President who is at fault.

I thought the first car seemed OK but yeah it was the drive not leading at a gentle enough slope up to the road that which would be the responsibility of the embassy. Strange as I would've thought they would have had quite a few limos driving in and out over the years to know about the problem.

Looks to me like the car made it out of the garage just fine.

A better question might be, who redesigned it for the barrier installation? It's a funny thing. Not a funny thing that the President became an immobilized sitting duck for a minute, but that clank was funny.

But shit like that isn't supposed to happen to POTUS, and from the first car scraping on the way out, it must have been a known issue, that didn't get to the people who needed to know about it. I certainly expect some asses are being chewed.

I would hope so too, Rich. Another video I saw showed the limo actually teetering slightly on the incline... rocking a bit back and forth from front tires to back.

Dont they do test drives? How did they get the limo in without problems?

Maybe it was a weight problem, as in the car riding lower than normal? Has Obama been sneeking into the kitchen at midnight and eating too many chips? Too much body weight? too many people inside? even elevators have weight limits... [8|]

Oh, hes gonna violate the 1973 war powers act, so MCCAIN and KERRY get a bi-partisan OK letter made up and resolved so they don't have to test that lame dog in SCOTUS, or further look like asses in their idiotic debates which havent been kind to them.

He gets a court order to release his birth certificate. Still wrong.

Oh, hes soft on terror, so he goes out and kills Osama bin Laden, and takes out somali pirates.  Something no other administration has done. But he does it first chance he gets and is wasting the crisis, cuz these things would be more politically expedient to do a week before the presidential election, but he does the right thing. 

And you are still whining like sissies and in the end, you're gonna be voting for him to be on the winning side in his second term and the decimation of the republicans in the house and senate.


Do you realize that people can see you and know you to be simpletons?

It's based on a stretch lincoln, look at the angle of the pavement. This is sixth grade physics. What I am surprised is that nobody tested the departure route. Sloppy ... wouldn't have happened on my brother's watch.
