Marini -> Joplin, MI/Government assistance to states after devastation? (5/23/2011 9:24:56 PM)

Like most people, I have been watching coverage of the tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri, and the horrific devastation.

{By the way, Anderson Cooper is providing excellent coverage.}

They are asking for donations, which is normal, and I can imagine that most of the people need EVERYTHING, since most have lost EVERYTHING they own.

Even those with insurance will probably not be compensated at a level that will replace all that they have lost.

This tornado is the 9th worse tornado in recorded American history.

After horrific tragedies such as this, shouldn't the government offer comprehensive and complete assistance to those that need it?

I would love to see the survivors in Joplin, Missouri treated very, very, well.
Don't they deserve it?
I want to see them get everything they need from head to toe, and I want them to get assistance until they are at least at the level they were on, if not even better, than before the tornado hit them.

I am going to follow what happens in Joplin, Missouri in the next few months/years.

We can GIVE billions to help those all over the world, we need to also offer billions to help those that need it in America.

In this era, in which so many government programs are being cut, and with talks of cutting medicaid, medicare and social security, how do you feel about the government giving assistance to area's in America hit by devastation and destruction?

Do you agree with me, that we should help those that face tragedies especially on the level in Joplin, MI, to the UTMOST of our abilities?

Its wonderful to give and to donate, to the the Red Cross, Salvation Army, etc. but aren't we still our brothers keepers?
I want to see unlimited help and resources going to Joplin, Missouri and I want to see the town totally rebuilt, regardless of who has "insurance"and what their insurance covers.

75% of the town destoyed

What are your thoughts on "government" assistance during and especially AFTER times of tragedies such as this?
Do you feel like I do, that we should go above and BEYOND the call of duty?
In this era of budget cuts, and cost cutting measures, isn't this one area that should not be affected?
