I actually hope he gets fired. I do not care for him. I know he is a impassioned voice for "progressives", but his style leaves a lot to be desired. He often sounds ignorant, ill-prepared, and over emotional. Calling women sluts because he does not like their politics is unacceptable

MSNBC host Ed Schultz will take one week of unpaid leave after making disparaging remarks about commentator Laura Ingraham on his radio show.
Schultz offered to take one week of unpaid leave, which will begin following tonight’s show, MSNBC said today in an e- mailed statement.

On his radio show yesterday, Schultz twice called Ingraham, who had criticized President Obama on the Fox News show “Fox and Friends,” a “slut,” the New York Times reported.

“Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” MSNBC said. The cable-news network is part of NBC Universal Inc., controlled by Comcast Corp. (CMCSA)

Some how that doesn't shock me.

I dont see any constructive debate on "news" channels...  more like shouting- obfuscation, innuendo and so on.

The places you do get some of your news are not very productive either.

Laura Ingram is worse than a slut.... that is an insult to sluts, actually.... the point is that he went there. As long as people like him purport to be on the left talk that way when they have a megaphone, it denigrates everyone on the left. I am glad he was at least suspended. I would fire his ass.

Exactly.... Ed Schultz is a putz. My mom called me with this news because she likes him, but she knows I don't.... so she thought I would get a kick out of it.

I do not get to watch her much anymore, but I love Rachel Maddow. She is intelligent, articulate, well reasoned, passionate, logical, able to have a civil discussion without giving an inch on her side. She is well prepared, able to admit when she is incorrect, she can separate people from positions they hold... I have a girl crush on her

I was referring to Laura Ingraham, I didn't expect you to start talking about Rachel.

So, why do you want to crucify Ed for this mistake, which he has apologized for, over and over again?

Have you actually never said something offensive? I have, and I'm glad I'm not on the air, and have time to rethink things most of the time, before I put 'em out in public. M

I am not on the radio.... I do not make the big bucks.... if I did I would be much more careful with how I phrased things. If I wasn't I would expect to get called on it.

There are plenty of people who do the same job Ed does who never say those things...

I do not like ed because he isn't good at his job. Part of his job is to not become so emotional that he loses it. He has major trouble controlling his mouth. Hopefully he will learn something from this debacle.

He's not my favorite show, but I don't blame him for being emotional, and angry at times. Some of the things going on in the world, and US, are outrageous...
And if everyone is trying to get "the common" man's vote, than he does a perfectly worderful job of explaining what is going on to the commoners (myself included). As I recall, elite becomes a four letter word, every election cycle. I would say Ed, speaks for the middle class, and the poor, very, very well actually.

As for letting a bad word escape every couple of years, I'm hardly offended. Especially when one catches self, and apologizes. M

He just classed himself with Beck and Limbaugh... and that is the sad thing for him

I think his heart is in the right place... but when you put this guy next to Maddow, O'Donnell... these folks are extremely talented and prepared. It makes me cringe sometimes when I watch his show... he is often wrong about the things he asserts, he has these inane polls in which he rants about something and then he has people txt in their vote... after spoon feeding them the answer...I know I am hard on him, but he is in the big leagues, and he just isn't up to snuff.

I do not watch MSNBC anymore.
