What is it with these Republican governors that they engage in these unnecessary wasteful boondoggles? And at the same time they neglect the legitimate needs of people that need help. How/why do they get elected? It’s ridiculous. How can people vote for these jerks.

4 Fantastically Stupid Projects Pushed By Republicans Aiming to Please Their Corporate Masters

The narrative that there isn’t enough money isn’t true. In state after state, legislatures are able to find hundreds of millions of dollars to spend on the whims of the rich.

1. Kentucky’s $43 million Bible theme Park
2. Texas’s tax break for yacht owners
3. Gov. Christie’s Money Pit
4. Public funding of union-busting corporations

South Carolina’s unemployment rate remains above the national average in a state with some of the country’s least generous jobless benefits. Meanwhile, thousands of residents are currently protesting officials’ plans to cut $700 million from the state’s Medicaid and education programs.

In state after state, legislatures are able to find hundreds of millions of dollars for the pet projects of yacht-owners, and for the every whim and desire of their corporate masters. The truth is that America’s vast resources aren’t being spent in an efficient manner. Officials throw money at big, glamorous-sounding Xanadu fantasies, or to bible-thumping constituents and strong-arming corporate cronies who make unfounded claims of trickle-down prosperity. Politicians do this in order to build monuments for their own legacies in a pathetic effort to obtain immortality, or to buy off the right players in attempts to seize power again in two, or four years, so they can prop up more extravagant headstones.

But in no way is this system meant to provide for the majority of American citizens. In fact, from what we see by examining these spectacularly stupid projects, the opposite is usually the case.

I didn't get an answer the last time so I thought I would try asking again

I am really curious are you actively involved in Canadian politics?  Do you get involved with candidates, go to rallies, etc.

Or do you just sit and piss around in ours?

2. Texas’s tax break for yacht owners,

Why should boat owners have to pay any tax?  We live on maritime law.  Not common law.

Because it is "real property" but the otherside, there was sales tax on the purchase, registration fees yearly which probably incur some form of an ad valorem tax, depending on the price a luxury tax, etc. etc. etc.
SO many of the things that are claimed, like this is hair splitting.

They can afford to give tax breaks?

quote:

A tax break for those who want to buy yachts costing $250,000 or more will be considered by the Texas House of Representatives after Republican state lawmakers passed the legislation in the House Ways and Means Committee on Thursday.

The measure, HB 2187, would cap the maximum sales tax the state could collect on the sale of a yacht. It was passed by an 8 to 3 vote along party lines, with Republicans supporting the measure.

The tax break comes after Republicans proposed deep cuts to education, nursing homes, and other basic government services. The state has a $27 billion deficit.

Everything is the republicans with you isn't it. Are you saying democrats don't own any yachts ?

Which brings us to the fact that it will probably have bipartisn support. Nobody gets the big chairs without money and "friends" with money.

Now tell me this. We already know that you always want to show republicans in a bad light. Anyone who hasn't figured that out is completely blind. Your bias is burnig brighter than the sun. But in that light I ask this, have you said anything lately good about democrats ? I haven't noticed. Methinkst the reason is because similarly, there is nothing good to say about those scumbags either.

T^T
