Could this be our future? It seems to be the direction we are heading. Greece and Spains current crisis is more comparable to the situation we Americans might face if medicare is expanded to cover everyone and then the government goes broke, Luce. If health care is held as a right, by default doctors and other health care providers will be reduced to slaves. Remember?

Nope. The police were not treating them as medical professionals, but as protesters attempting to trespass upon government offices. They were not acting as doctors at the time. If the police broke up surgical procedures, that would be very different. Are you suggesting that lawbreakers be given a free pass if they're doctors?

Doctors by their very education and abilities as those who can prevent ill health and the death of others by their skills should be listened to, for medical professionals are one of the cornerstones of any society, a cornerstone without which a society could quite literally die. But for doctors who normally would not get involved in such activities to do so, the situation must indeed be dire and perhaps it was common thought that if the last line of defense got involved, then the policy makers would listen, but it seems the policy makers are treating doctors with the same contempt as all other subjects, because they know doctors and indeed other medical professionals will carry on with their duties despite what comes at them through their very status as caring people. Please correct me if I am incorrect on this, but I believe a government is set up by the people for the people, what people want the people get, not what the politicians think they need and don't need. Healthcare as you know is one of those very important needs that is in everyone's mind as without health, one is nothing and can be nothing quite literally.

Thanx for this OP. I would prefer to keep all $335 million I made last year you know, being the typical risk averse, greedy capitalist scum and as it is I had to pay about 17-18%. Now if the country (govt.) could just go out and create more typical right wing incentives [sic] (give me additional tax breaks) I might...might create a few more jobs paying 35%. Then you have enough stupid yet hard working stiffs to foolishly pay that 35% to pay for others health care. Lord knows I can't afford to pay for anyone's health care but my own. LOL, the doctors are protesting the monitoring of payments thru national healthcare. In other words, they are afraid that they will get caught embezzling and padding their bills. And the neo-cons and other communists out here are supporting that sort of illegal gangsterism.
