As you enjoy your long weekend, ponder these words.

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his/her life wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'

That is Honor

FR

I don't know about "honor" when you're 19 years old, but that was when I went in, did my six years, got out at twenty five in 1983.  Had some fun, still miss a few buddies, but overall I can live without the petty day to day bullshit of peacetime military existence.

Thank you veterans. To the ones gone and to the living. Thanks so much.

My mom was in one of the first woman`s units formed after the Air Force was established and separated from the Army.A clerical unit serving at Ramay AFB in Puerto Rico.

She`s about to go into a VA nursing home here in Jersey.Thank god for our vets and for the VA.
