Owner59 -> GOP's Medicare Message Might Not Be Fixable (5/26/2011 7:42:39 PM)

Republicans are vowing to tweak their Medicare message to make it an easier sell to voters in the wake of the party's defeat in New York's 26th Congressional district special election. The problem is not what's in Rep. Paul Ryan's plan, they argue, but how they sold it. "If we'll just stay with our argument and do a better job developing it, we’ll be fine," Rep. Tom Cole told The Hill's Molly K. Hooper and Russell Berman. "I think we need to be stronger in marketing who we are and our message," Rep. Allen West agreed. But anonymously, some Republicans are "grumbling" that "you don't piss off senior citizens," The Hill reports, and some are even talking of "revisiting" Ryan's overhaul. That might be even more tempting, given that a one-time massive change to the system might be politically impossible, Politico's Jason Millman reports.

They’re drinking too much Kool-Aid meaning they are really out of touch. They actually think they can persuade the public to accept Mr. Ryan's plan.

Dems Tim Ryan and Anthony Weiner: 'The goal now of the Republican party, Madam Chair, is to dismantle the Medicare program'

Well, ladies and gentlemen, that might be the rationale for our Republican friends wanting to eliminate Medicare, but none of those things are true. It is not a ‘construct to develop a plan’ it is the proposal of the Republican party of the United States of America to eliminate Medicare as a guaranteed entitlement. If you don’t believe me, go get the book that they wrote, go get the budget that they wrote, go get the bill that they wrote.

And please don't forget about Blue America's actblue page dedicated to Stop Paul Ryanhttp://crooksandliars.com/john-amato/rep-tim-ryan-goal-now-republican-party-

I'm glad Paul Ryan doesn't care about his political career.
