But you aren't disputing reality, seems to me that a couple credible citations might help you out there, but thats not your style, is it?

If you really cant recall leftists making all kinds of hay over the patriot act, and going apoplectic because they thought they were being accused of not being patriotic for not supporting the act or whatever...

Which thats what I am referring to... all the Bushitler hysteria, all the Cheney in a noose signs amd so on...

If you cant or dont recall all of that, then I simply cannot help you.

But I was here, and I recall it very clearly. And I see no reason to dispute actual reality with someone whose reality is as variable as is yours seems to be

That horse left the barn many years ago. It does not change the fact that my voting decisions have been shaped by it ever since, but my outrage has burned into a slow ember instead of a raging inferno.

The reason I supported Obama in the last election was because he was untainted by the Patriot Act, the War in Iraq, etc etc etc... initially I supported Dennis Kucinich because he had a record on both of these issues.

Now the funny thing in my mind is the teaparty, because they had an opportunity to be against the Patriot Act, etc, before a Black man was elected... yet they weren't upset by it. Where were they when their rights were eroded?

Now, you can pretend that everyone who was extremely opposed to these things was mollified by the election of Obama, but that isn't true. That small minority of us that cared about it then, care about it still.... the only thing different is I cared about it before a Black man was in office

Whats your style mnot... and whats julias style

Using vacuous bullshit to derail any  thread you dont like

Trying your damndest to make them about other collarchat members rather than the actual topic

Cause dont tell me youve gone suddenly (conveniently) very senile too

What is the topic, other than to demonize left leaning collarme chat members, put them on the defensive, try to insinuate we are all hypocrites, etc etc etc

It is why you use the language you do, to incite instead of illuminate... basically it is a form of oneupmanship

If ever I write "everyone" that wasnt my intent

Though most leftists, when they see Obama beginning another war, or they see Bushs tax cuts being extended under the Dems, or they see Obama signing the Patriot Act, all these things that once heralded the riders of the apocalypse to them before

And now theyre hitting the snooze button over these same things

Its educational

You do it in almost every post

mnottertail -> RE: Obama signs Patriot Act (5/27/2011 12:01:40 PM)

I remember that the hue and cry was from left and right against the patriot act --here you know like this, I have proof of the bi partisan ship of the protesting, even Bushes DOJ thought it sucked ass:

But perhaps for the purposes of your discussion, faux nuze is now a leftist media organization.

Truer words have not been spoken in regards to you,  cause you and reality or never in the same solar system.

Im convinced she wouldnt vote for Obama because of his support of the PA, arent you?

Still all about me...

I am the bad guy for making a political point here

Pure evil... [:D]

Seriously though, please focus on the topic julia,

And no - I am not the topic

juliaoceania -> RE: Obama signs Patriot Act (5/27/2011 12:04:01 PM)

Many people who protested the war in Iraq and the Patriot act were in fact anarchists... these people didn't magically see Obama and jump on his bandwagon

Is that what you call it? I call it more bad stereotyping without any sort of proof, with your use of "leftists" this and "leftists" that... never once defining what you mean by that term....

I would not call you evil, I would say your posting style lends itself to the internet equivalent of picking a fight... it is boring, and fairly much I am just tired of reading you.

Sanity -> RE: Obama signs Patriot Act (5/27/2011 12:07:46 PM)

A lot of people, both left and right were against it.

If someone is sincere then I dont hold it against them, if thats your point

My point is that in all of these things all the heated rhetoric during the Bush years from the left was (mostly) hot air

And that which was from the right was likely due to principle, wouldnt you think?

juliaoceania -> RE: Obama signs Patriot Act (5/27/2011 12:09:32 PM)

Do you know how many issues the right co-opts to get support from Proles? Do you think that the right wing never does this? Seriously? They say one thing when they are out of power, and do another when they have the power... yet you focus on the left? Why?

Edited to add, you realize that by focusing on just one side who does this crap, it makes you guilty of it

Sanity -> RE: Obama signs Patriot Act (5/27/2011 12:09:59 PM)

Please quit trying to hijack the thread, julia.

I wont let you make it about me, so go pound sand.

I wouldn't at all be connected with that notion. You argue some internal emotions and paranoias, but not fact.  You continue the argument of selective observation (on nearly every point out here) in the face of overwhelming and irrefutable fact.

That he does...

Everything he accuses "leftists" of can be demonstrated on the other side

Dick Cheney was the one that made the base closure recommendations before Clinton, for example, yet Republicans blamed Clinton for it.

Republicans claimed to be for balancing the budget until Clinton did it

Republicans supported TARP under Bush, but not under Obama...especially when he put in that clause that would make the banks accountable, and then started the tea party movement over it.

The list could go on and on

Musicmystery -> RE: Obama signs Patriot Act (5/27/2011 1:10:20 PM)

This is going to be one of those 33 page threads, isn't it....

juliaoceania -> RE: Obama signs Patriot Act (5/27/2011 1:12:05 PM)

I am just about bored of it, but if you want to try to get to that many pages... go you!
