ParappaTheDapper -> Who are your favorite celebrities to follow on Twitter? (5/27/2011 9:13:32 AM)

For me it is (roughly in descending order):

Kanye
Stephen Fry
Conan O'Brien
Ochocinco
Steve Martin (amazingly funny still)
Heems (from Das Racist, not really a celeb yet but D.R. is blowing up in the next few months!)
Louis CK
Aziz Ansari

There are others! I love people who have mastered the Art of the Tweet!

I suppose I am not bored enough to be interested in celebrities...[8|]

I am interested in the achievements from sport stars during tournaments but apart from that I couldn't care less about them [8|]

I'm easily amused, no doubt about that! I just find some entertainers so....entertaining. I love reading the instantaneous limited-keystroke musings of the icons of 21st century fixations, predilections, hang-ups, vanities and values!

None. I haven't caught the Twitter bug yet. But don't try to take away my People magazine!!! I will cut you!

I'm the same way with my TMZ! Plus I love reading British tabloids because even though I don't even know who half the people are I just love how snarky and ruthless they get!

well, pleasure is all yours...for me its exactly that reason that I avoid reading papers in the UK, apart from the free of charge metro paper which is a bit more decent...[:D]

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Who are your favorite celebrities to follow on Twitter? (5/27/2011 11:23:12 AM)

The only "celebrity" I follow on Twitter is Laurell K. Hamilton (NY Times bestselling author).  I also follow well-known experts in the writing and publishing industries but they don't really have "celeb" status.  Otherwise, I'm not superficial enough to care.

ParappaTheDapper -> RE: Who are your favorite celebrities to follow on Twitter? (5/27/2011 11:26:55 AM)

Awesome! I haven't read too much of Hamilton's work but I've definitely enjoyed what I have read of the Anita Blake series. She's a very proficient and hardworking craftswoman from what I can tell. Mucho respect for her.

I used to buy Weekly World News on a regular basis. It's a parody of supermarket tabloids. My all-time favorite story in it was about the Siamese twins who drowned, because one loved the water & the other was terrified of it. They were walking on a pier one day & the one leaped into the water. The other panicked & they both drowned. According to a witness, "It looked like a feeding frenzy out there!!!" Laughed so hard I cried with nearly every issue!

LadyPact -> RE: Who are your favorite celebrities to follow on Twitter? (5/27/2011 11:36:21 AM)

Sorry, but I'm with Lewis Black on the twitter issue.

Yeah, My links suck, but it's funny.

Some friends and I used to quote Ed Anger at each other all the time! I'm pretty sure I still have a couple of my old Batboy tee shirts lying around.

Also I hate to brag (no I don't!) but a few years ago we went to see Batboy the Musical when it was off-Broadway.

Mad love for the WWN!!! High five to you on your excellent taste!

LP I simply adore Lewis Black! We had a chance to see him in Boston a few years ago and he's one of the best live standup comics I've ever seen.

It always makes me feel so happy to see him land a role in something because he has really paid his dues and been just side splittingly funny for so long!

I have come to love TMZ and try and watch it every day..I used to think it was lame but grew to love it..they are quite clever... ...they play it here about 4-5 times a day..but twitter and the people you listed...I could care less...I remember an episode where some celebrity said that Harvey was like Fagin from Oliver Twist with his minions...so funny!

If I did want to follow twitter I would probably follow Vincent D’Onofrio from Law and Order and Anthony Bourdain from the Travel/food show " No Reservations"...and more in that genre...

Kanye really?  really? you care what he says?  smirk smirk

ParappaTheDapper -> RE: Who are your favorite celebrities to follow on Twitter? (5/27/2011 8:34:06 PM)

Bourdain is another celeb whose tweets I love to read. He's insanely funny sometimes and always very brash and straight shooting. Swell guy! But I totally understand not being into Twitter. It's a big world and there is room for everyone!

Love the Maugham quote in your sig file, too. I've always had a huge soft spot for Maugham.

Lewis Black is definitely good. :)

Suze Orman
Sanjay Gupta
Dalai Lama
David Suzuki
Dr. Mehmet Oz
Peter Greenberg
Ryan Smith (hot, hot, hot!)
Dr. Andrew Weil
Richard Branson
Phil Keoghan
The British Monarchy
Blake Shelton ('cuz I have been lustin' after him since first seeing him on The Voice! :)
Dr. Drew Pinsky (someone else I lust over :D )

Awareness -> RE: Who are your favorite celebrities to follow on Twitter? (5/28/2011 4:04:33 AM)

  I don't.

I find celebrities generally tend to be varying shades of self-absorbed, annoying, clueless or insane.  Why the fuck would I want to follow their munted ravings?  That's like going to a bar full of attractive idiots and repeatedly asking to be hit in the head with their half-empty beer glasses.  It's far less entertaining than you might think.

poise -> RE: Who are your favorite celebrities to follow on Twitter? (5/28/2011 8:28:24 AM)

I have yet to Twitter, or use Facebook, and never had a MySpace page.
Gosh, some might start to think I'm antisocial, but I'm truly not! (really!)

You have great taste otter! Two of my favorite men to swoon over.

ParappaTheDapper -> RE: Who are your favorite celebrities to follow on Twitter? (5/28/2011 10:19:40 AM)

I've stayed off of Facebook myself. I've never fully understood the appeal of posting intimate details of my private life so that they can be read by people I'd cross the street to avoid a conversation with!

FullCircle -> RE: Who are your favorite celebrities to follow on Twitter? (5/28/2011 10:30:17 AM)

Do you often wonder how famous people of the past would have tweeted, nah me neither.

ParappaTheDapper -> RE: Who are your favorite celebrities to follow on Twitter? (5/28/2011 10:51:28 AM)

Actually, I do! I do!

I imagine Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda would have had an awesome couple-tweet thing going on like Ashton and Demi did for a little while.

Sinatra would have tweeted some magical tweets, and you can take that to the bank. All talking steady shit about how weakass other crooners were and making hippy heads go ring-a-ding-ding back in the peacenik days.

Speaking of which, imagine John Lennon vacillating with breakneck speed between terse, cogent barbs and brilliantly obscure psychedelic babble. Speaking of which, imagine the tweet wars between Yoko and Paul!

Hunter Thompson. Are you kidding me? Hunter fucking Thompson? That would have been some golden shit.

Going back even more oldschool, Thomas Paine would have been all over the Twitter-sphere. While all the stodgy old Tories were limping around harumphing about how infra dig all that Twitter nonsense was T. Paine would have been in there busting chops. Ditto for Jefferson. Adams would have looked down his nose at the whole affair but Jefferson and Franklin would have been in there tweeting away!

Just thinking about this makes me realize how lucky we are to have the capacity for communication we have now. In some ways, modern life is pretty wonderful! :D
