I did not say I never have watched cable news television, I do not think of it as a news outlet. I have watched it for breaking news, which is what CNN is for...And what they sell as breaking news often isn't. But if there is a terrible earthquake, if I want to get visual news about it, I would watch CNN Here is where cable news has really let us down (all of them), they sell commentary as news. Commentary is not news. In newspapers they have columnists, they OpEds, they have letters to the editor, etc etc etc... these are kept away from the "news" portions of a paper. They are clearly labelled as what they are in a reputable paper.... Cable news, not so much. This creates a distorted impression of what news is. Is it information? Of a sort, yeah. Is it news? No
