Radio as a media outlet for much is not that reliable, there was a day in time that I would spend 25% of my advertising budget on radio but the audience has become deluded. Cable tv at less cost is a much better investment, and because of the nature of the shows being so specific you can target market them much better. Broadcast tv is still by numerical superiority the absolute best for a less targeted audience. With sports talk radio, oldies, soft rock, AOR,NPR, political talk, country music and the huge corporate ownership by Cumulus and others it just isn't a great advertising investment for most businesses. Advertising is an expensive investment, trying to get the right message through the correct media is a larger challenge today than ever before, and radio is risky at best for most businesses.
