Weird how government works.  They're printing off hard copies and sending them.  Don't they know about the Forward button?

Well,we have governors traveling to little-league games in jet helicopters here in Jersey so......[sm=dunno.gif]

Can he see the bridge to nowhere from his helicopter? Over.

I'm not a fan of Palin but this looks like part of a witch hunt. I reckon its related to an abuse of the system where loads of ethics complaints were lodged against her costing several million to the state, most I think have been resolved in her favor but were a reason she left her office early and didn't seek gubby re-election.

Put em all in one downloadable zip file?

Anything but wasting money printing out emails and sending them around.

Wait....

Why would that be?

You`re assuming that there`s something damaging in them.

Why is that?

mnottertail -> RE: Alaska To Release Gov. Palin`s Emails (6/1/2011 7:59:11 AM)

Yeah, how quick do you think the boys at Boise Cascade, et al would be getting their republican shills to scream, You are destroying America!  Imagine if Bush did that ([8D]) what an outcry there would be from the rightists.

No, this is a legal tactic when deliberately delaying/burying something for a time--give the opposition what they want, but in reams of paper.

I dunno, maybe there will, maybe there won't. Probity is important but this feels excessive and either way there will be plenty of spin after seeing the list of meja organizations seeking da emails. [8|]

pahunkboy -> RE: Alaska To Release Gov. Palin`s Emails (6/1/2011 8:10:35 AM)

The paper emails could be scanned to a computer.

EternalHoH -> RE: Alaska To Release Gov. Palin`s Emails (6/1/2011 8:14:28 AM)

I think its a method used to authenticate whats there, too. Electronic forwarding is not tamper-proof.

But officials are also going to withhold another 2,415 pages the state deems privileged, personal or otherwise exempt from Alaska's disclosure laws.

I agree with privileged and exempt (don't want to tip Alaska's hand on any 'state secrets', after all), but personal should be fair game.  Just ask any employee who works for a company if their personal emails done on company time are outside the scrutiny of their employer, and they will tell you no. Personal is where all the fundie bodies are buried.

Musicmystery -> RE: Alaska To Release Gov. Palin`s Emails (6/1/2011 8:14:41 AM)

Yes. But it will take time.

Yes, but it can never change the original hard copy which was put out by the state.

tazzygirl -> RE: Alaska To Release Gov. Palin`s Emails (6/1/2011 8:19:59 AM)

Always made me wonder... she was cleared of all those ethic charges... why did she quit?

To go on a bus tour, like she is the partridge family?

tazzygirl -> RE: Alaska To Release Gov. Palin`s Emails (6/1/2011 8:26:32 AM)

Yeah, what is up with that? Her PAC is getting money.... if she doesnt run, can she keep it all?

Maybe they want to edit out a few email addresses that are shown in the sender and cc lists first?
(It's possible that there's a few erstwhile Palin voters who don't have email and/or are too stupid to work a computer, come to that...)

mnottertail -> RE: Alaska To Release Gov. Palin`s Emails (6/1/2011 8:26:49 AM)

So she could buy a house in arizona and she could do more for her state from out of office.

She said parts of that, anyhow.

tazzygirl -> RE: Alaska To Release Gov. Palin`s Emails (6/1/2011 8:27:34 AM)

Makes me wonder what the next ethic charge was going to be.
