Yes, imagine how awesome that would be. And Az has just received SCOTUS affirmation of the way to do it.

SCOTUS upholds Arizona immigrant hiring law?

Is that a question or expressing surprise that they did?

Wait until there is no agreement to raise the debt ceiling and the world economy (especially the United States) is annihilated and destroyed then you're going to see a real depression. All because the Republicans want to destroy Medicare, Medicaid and programs that help the middle class and poor.

This is the same bullshit that scared Congress into TARP. Not raising the debt ceiling wont do shit to the world or US economy.

You seem to agree that it is. However, isnt this already a law? How will the prove an employer "knowingly" hired an illegal when all they are allowed, by law, to do is ask for the items in an I9 form?

Just curious as to how this is supposed to "help".

It would be a good thing. It would force the federal government to balance the budget and stop destroying the economy. It would automatically end the wars, reduce national security police state buildup, government waste, and many, many other positive things.

The Republicans and GWB gave illegal immigrants a wink and a nod for 8 years.
Thank you for saying AGAIN, what I have posted at least 10 times on here.

Illegal immigrants owe GWB big time!

Many have "selective memory" and really bad short term memory.
It is fascinating to listen to people that ignore facts and recent events!

We totally have big business and the powers that be, to thank for the millions of illegal immigrants that are here.

Why? They are taking jobs Amerikans don't want to do!
Who can forget Bush's famous lines???

George Bush's immigration policies

George Bush on illegal immigrant workers

GWB speech on immigration "reform" 2006

DENIAL is surely not just a river in Egypt, I see and listen to many people that can't remember facts, policies, speeches and events from 3-5 years ago.

At the end of the day, if the Republicans/George W.Bush wanted to "do something" about illegal immigration, they could have done something about IT 10 years ago.

GWB/Republicans/Big Business, etc. did not want to do anything much at all because THEY NEEDED them {in their own words}.
Corporations and many business owners want and need desperate people to exploit and its cheaper than outsourcing!!!Desperate people willing to work hard, and cheap sources of labor!

Damn those greedy ass American citizens that demand a living wage and especially those bastard union fuckers.

They are here now, jobs are few and far between if not SCARCE, and they are not going back to Mexico.
So deal
We are going to take care of millions of illegal immigrants and their millions of children.
{education, medical, housing, etc.}

IMHO, the Republicans and Democrats gave illegal immigrants a PASS for the past 20 years or more.
Now, it is to the Democrats political advantage to court them, due to the hispanic/and hispanic supporters voting block.

I would not be surprised if a billion more people come here {from all over} and STAY, before they do anything very serious about the borders. In fact, why bother patrolling them at all? I say anyone that can get into America should stay.

Im not surprised at all. A state has the right to regulate businesses within their borders. It requires employers to use E-verify or they can have their business shut down. Under Federal law its voluntary except for a limited group of companies such as Federal contractors.

Im not sure what you mean. If they dont use E-verify they obviously arent attempting to find out if a worker is legal...its presumptive evidence that they dont WANT to know, when they are required to.

There is no doubt that much of the illegal immigration problem has come from both sides. If you look into both parties over the last forty years or so, you will see that everyone elected has been a member of the Trilateral Commission. Start poking around in that cess pool and you'll see that all of the trade agreements, NAFTA, TAFTA etc, tie in and that it is the "globalization" factor that comes into play.

What the 17 million illegals taught me is that if you get enough people together to willingly and knowingly break a law, they all get a pass because it becomes unenforceable. So, maybe we should start looking at taxes and other "laws" that don't suit the population and band together. This isn't a partisan issue. The lifestyle of easy credit, fiat currency and living beyond your means is dying a slow death that is rapidly accelerating.

None of this would have been possible if more people had the testicular fortitude to refuse working "salary" meaning specifically taking on 3 people's work and working 60 hours a week, giving up AB pension plans, etc. But, it was a boiling the frog scenario and now it's about to hit the tipping point.

Casting aspersions to one aisle or the other doesn't solve the problem. And it's true, when life gets harder in the U.S. than it is in Mexico, many immigrants will go right back over the border.

What needs to happen is the interest rates need to be raised significantly above the rate of inflation. This will slow or stop the inflation and encourage saving. As a culture, we have to learn that Rome wasn't built in a day, but it can damn sure burn down in one. We have to relearn the patience our parents or grandparents had, that it's best to save for the things we want, and we need to learn to be produces again, because no one in this country really knows how to make anything anymore. Self sufficiency, not as a reaction to hyperinflation or a doomsday scenario, but for the fact that it prevents a gaping Achille's Heel, makes very good sense.

A point made that bears a lot of merit is the fact that illegal aliens are working jobs we wouldn't. But you have to push further than that. You have to ask first, why wouldn't we work those jobs? Perhaps some of it is snobbery, having gotten too spoiled for our own good, but then if the value of the dollar was still as significant as it was even in the 80's, many of those jobs would provide a real living for someone without having to live 9 people in a 2 bedroom apartment. It is the growing loss of spending power in our currency that has made many of those jobs simply not worth doing because they can't sustain an American lifestyle.

Great post ClassIsInSession!

I would like to add my 2 cents worth.

Our economy is/has been declining for a while, a lot has been done to prop it up the last few years, but it can't be propped up much longer.
As it continues to decline {and it will}, the American lifestyle for MANY people is going to change.

Many, many, many people have already, and will be lowering their standards of living.

I have felt for years we are headed for a Depression, and I still do.
Class is certainly in session.

The next Depression won't be like the 1930's, we are facing a modern computerized Depression, and it will be televised.

“E-Verify is not without its flaws, including one fundamental problem: its inability to detect identity theft,” Lynden Melmed, former chief counsel for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), told the committee's Immigration, Border Security and Citizenship Subcommittee on July 21. “Unlawful workers can beat E-Verify by using another individual's valid identification.”

You had me until here.

Illegal immigrants work in many sectors of the U.S. economy. According to National Public Radio in 2005, about 3 percent work in agriculture; 33 percent have jobs in service industries; and substantial numbers can be found in construction and related occupations (16 percent), and in production, installation, and repair (17 percent).[5] According to USA Today in 2006, about 4 percent work in farming; 21 percent have jobs in service industries; and substantial numbers can be found in construction and related occupations (19 percent), and in production, installation, and repair (15 percent), with 12% in sales, 10% in management, and 8% in transportation.[6] Illegal immigrants have lower incomes than both legal immigrants and native-born Americans, but earnings do increase somewhat the longer an individual is in the country.[5]

Explain to me how americans dont want these jobs? If ou are referring to the lettuce picking ones, that makes up 3 - 4 % of the illegals in the country. Meaning, a great percentage are doing the jobs americans would do.

Please so explain which jobs you mean.

This is the same bullshit that scared Congress into TARP. Not raising the debt ceiling wont do shit to the world or US economy.

And you claim to know economics?

If the debt ceiling is not raised debt will come due for 2 months with no way to pay off the bonds, IOW default. Which will instantly make all US bonds worthless which will wipe out a huge amount of wealth, both in and outside the US. All major institutional investors will be wiped out. Investors suddenly in need of liquidity will dump other assets driving the stock market down sharply. Which means a lot of IRA's and 401's will be hit hard. Banks will stop lending again while they try to stay afloat. Many banks will fail as they won't be able to reach their reserve. That will cost people more money as the FDIC will be unable to pay off the losses as its money is in treasuries.

In short the US economy will collapse, the dollar will be worth more as TP then it will as money and the rest of the first world will be teetering on the edge of economic implosion.

I dont know what you claim to know. Other than Israel youve showed no depth in anything you post. There are so many ways to restructure cash flow, including reducing spending, that default in August or anytime soon is absurd, and just another scare tactic. Originally it was "oooh we'll default in April."

Pretty soon Geithner is going to say the rapture is in October if the debt ceiling isnt raised and you'll be converting to save your Christian soul.
