First let me say that a lot of the ones already listed are among my faves as well, so rather than repeat what other people have said, I'll give a list of ones so far not mentioned. Each of these is superb for one reason or another, and this is my You Really Should See list, in the order I thought of them.

Aleksandr Nevsky
Oh! What a Lovely War
The Atomic Cafe
Royal Hunt for the Sun
The Seven Samurai
Rainman
Battleship Potemkin
The Black Robe
My Dinner With Andre
Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead
Paths of Glory

The Incredible Lightness of Being
Saving Private Ryan
Ran
Swimming to Cambodia
Hell in the Pacific
Once Were Warriors
The Princess Bride
Willow
Enemy at the Gates
The Grateful Dead Movie
The Wansee Conference
Der Untergang
Eating Raoul
Being John Malkovich
The Basketball Diaries
The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover
What's Eating Gilbert Grape

The Man Who Would Be King
Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence
Hotel Rwanda
Farewell to the King
Honkytonk Man
Bent
The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas

Well, as you can see I like a lot of movies. There are more I really like, and recommend, but I have to stop somewhere.

In no particular order:

Master and Commander, Far side of the world (you can practically smell the salty air)
Gosford Park
Dazed and Confused ("I wanna dance!")
The Godfather
The Godfather part 2 (Godfather 3 wasn’t a bad movie – although the helicopter scene was over the top – but it just didn’t have that Godfather feel).
The Last of the Mohicans
Miracle
V for Vendetta
Logan’s Run
Schindler’s List (never fails to rile me up and leave me needing to suppress the urge to go out and shoot nazis)
Pink Floyd: The Wall (WE DON’T NEED NO EDUCATION!)
Fame – the original (that school was so much cooler than my real school)
Saving Private Ryan
Fly Away Home (sniff, gets me every time)
12 Monkeys
Braveheart
Apocalypto (yeah… I know that Gibson is a drunken, anti-semtic, jackass… but they’re still good movies)
The Shawshank Redemption
The Bourne Identity
The Bourne Supremacy
The Bourne Ultimatum (Bourne is the thinking man’s action hero)
Alien
Aliens (Alien: Resurrection is okay but I hate the third movie – Newt Dies???!!! Come on, what was the point of the second movie? I much prefer to believe that Ripley, Hicks and Newt made it back to earth. Ripley and Hicks get married – Bishop is the best man – and adopt Newt. Everybody lives happily ever after)
Return of the Living Dead ("send... more... paramedics")
Breaking Away ("Refund?")
The Queen
The Outlaw Josey Wales
The Deer Hunter
A few Good Men
A Clockwork Orange
Forest Gump
The Gods Must be Crazy
1984 ("Do it to Julia!")
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (gotta love that ending… if freedom had a sound, it would be the sound of that marble sink crashing through that window)
Escape From New York
The Thing ("You’ve got to be fucking kidding.")
The Crow
My Cousin Vinny
Milk (it’s a shame that Sean Penn is such a dictator ass kissing dink in real life… he really is one of the greatest actors walking the Earth)
The Social Network

I am too much of a movie fanatic to pick.

It usually is the last amazing film I saw, which is Incendies; a Canadian film which is beyond amazing.
