aromanholiday -> Quotes for Slaves (6/3/2011 5:53:38 PM)

I'm collecting in here some ideas I've found personally useful and also inspiring. I collect these, I read them by myself, and they make me think interesting thoughts, so I thought I'd share the wealth. I'm not going to post one of these quotes every day like clockwork, as that would cheapen them. But they will come regularly. They are simply food for thought, for those interested in being or becoming a slave to chew on; ideas that I've chewed on myself, and found quite tasty. For that reason, I will not pre-digest, er, annotate them. Sometimes I'll provide attributions, other times I won't, other times I can't--a.k.a. "no clue." :) Often the quotes I find come from sources that aren't talking about slavery at all. But that doesn't mean they aren't applicable in another "discipline." Respond as you wish, or not, it's a (mostly) free message board. ;)

error begins with duality;
unity knows no error.

Accipe, per longos tibi qui deserviat annos.
Have me and I will be your slave for long years. Ovid

Here's a few quotes I've come across over the years that aren't necessarily BDSM in nature but can have relevance, nontheless....

"Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is." -- Vince Lombardi

"We cannot be more sensitive to pleasure without being more sensitive to pain" -- Alan Watts

"If you never fail, you're not trying hard enough." -- Unknown

"Silence is one of the most effective forms of communication." -- Unknown

"Failure is not an option. It is a privilege reserved only for those who try." -- Unknown

"Power without control is nothing" -- Pirelli tyres commercial

"Four things come not back: the spoken word, the spent arrow, the past, and the neglected opportunity." -- Omar Idn Al-Halif

Focus.

Thanks for the contributions, all. I especially appreciated the advice about leapfrogging and unicorns. That never would have occurred to me! :-o

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.
Bill Cosby

Someone somewhere (I read it here first) said, Never makes someone a priority who considers you only an option. That goes for any type of relationship as far as I am concerned.

Don't settle for less than you deserve. If you do, you'll get even less than you settled for.

"Ouch, you fucker" is not a safe word.

“Inter faeces et uriname nascimur.” or "Between piss and shit, we are born." - Saint Augustine

I always found the above  to be handy when I find myself feeling a wee bit too pleased with myself.
Alternately, sagely quoting Latin is also generally handy to give yourself a certain feeling of intellectual superiority.

(laughing) Let me see if I got this right. You apply an appropriate quote in order to become less pleased with yourself but by quoting it in Latin you become more pleased with yourself. (Feels brain getting caught into a loop). Thank you for that head-spinner, darchChylde. [;)] It's almost as bad as Leadership's (which I can't think about without completely derailing my brain--so I've banned it from my frontal neurons).

(goes and looks for something non-dizzy to post)

"...behind any use of power over another the ultimate assumption remains: 'I feed on your energy.' "

This quote and the one in "Two" came from Dune Messiah. Herbert was marvelous, wasn't he?

Ah, it seems my work here is done.

HeatherMcLeather -> RE: Quotes for Slaves (6/5/2011 5:32:58 PM)

I don't really have any quick pithy quotes to help me, but there is something I do keep in mind and refer to now and then, when I am unsure about things. Its from a post here on CM. I copied it and printed it out, and I keep it close to me so I can reread it when I feel the need.

I thank the author ever so much for sharing the story with us, it speaks to me on a very deep level and reminds me that there is beauty and honour in my chosen path, and that yes being the best slave I can be is something worth striving for on its own merits, and that its a goal worthy of respect.
