It really pisses me off that people will run as a "Whatever" with no care for the ideals of that party.
Worse yet! The ones who pretend to go along with the party ideals, but have no attachment to them. Check out the voting in the congress and senate to see how many are not the party they were elected to. In Canada, it is less, so far. We have floor crossers, who get elected for one party, then cross to the other. Sometimes, the next damn day!!!!

At least this idiot is blatantly not there. Sadly, a lot of people won't notice it. Just put the X for the party.

One thing I would like to see in political reforms, is monetary fines and disciplinary actions for party turncoats. A party should have clearly stated platforms, and legally binding signed contracts for their candidates. Buck the ideals, get turfed from the party and position, run in a byelection as some other party then.

Party ideals?  You must not pay much attention to U.S politics.  Neither of our major parties have had "ideal" in years.  All they have is "spin," saying what they think the majority of voters want to hear.

More like:

ALABAMA + RACIST = RUNNING FOR PUBLIC OFFICE

That sounds a lot more familiar, doesn't it?  Fortunately, this guy probably isn't going to be elected.

Yeah. But I didn't even want to get into that. It is rapidly becoming the Canadian way.
I am actually CDN/US citizen. It is getting scary travelling with a US passport. I do keep up with US politics quite closely. And it is depressing. Canada will follow I am sure......but still hopefully not.

Unfortunately, we had somewhat of a reverse situation down here; a guy who was a lifetime Democrat (that no one liked) decided to jump onboard the Libertarian party for a "fresh start" despite having no clue or desire to know what that party's basic tenets were. Of course, he lost........ again.....

Winston Churchill cross the floor twice and was hated by half the population before the war and despite the war making his reputation, he was thrown out of office in 1945 because he wasn't trusted with the peace.

Politicians are politicians, integrity isn't a word in their dictionary.

HarryVanWinkle -> RE: Alabama + Atheist= Democrat? (5/14/2006 9:57:17 AM)

Harry's Dictionary defines a politician as "A person with too little morals and ethics to stay a lawyer."
