Brain -> Jon Stewarts Ratings Are Now Higher Than All Of Fox News (6/4/2011 8:27:32 PM)

Beautiful! I'd like to see him get paid as much as all of the Fox news hosts combined. Jon Stewart is the master. But I have to say bill Maher isn't chopped liver.

Jon Stewart’s Ratings Are Now Higher Than All Of Fox News

According to the May Nielson ratings, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart beat the entire Fox News network in terms of total viewers. Stewart averaged 2.3 million viewers, while the Fox News prime time and day time line up averaged 1.85 million viewers.

According to Comedy Central, The Daily Show is dominant in its time slot,

You do realize Jon Stewart does not place himself in the same category as "news". In fact he will tell anyone who will listen he is a parody of the news. As such you really cannot compare him to Fox News, although you could argue that Fox isn't news either, and also a parody of the real thing.

I always feel more informed when I listen to Jon than when I listen to the rest. At least I know Jon picks on both sides of the fence.

If a 100 to 1 ratio and on a comedy show makes you feel informed, it explains a lot!

Its a more enjoyable way to learn about events, willbe. Its truly better than all the doom, gloom and bullshit you get with the rest. Some people can see beyond the comedy to the story... some are funny... some witty.. some thought provoking.

If seeing a few select stories that he can make fun of with a distinctly liberal bias and no one providing the opposite view makes you feel informed go for it. "thought provoking"???? Gimme a break.

Brilliant, since Brain believes Fox/Faux/Fux News is down da shitter ratingswise, I look forward to him not starting any more threads giving out about it!! [:D] [:D]

Willbe, darlin, there is more than one way to learn. More than one way to garner knowledge. Maybe the fact that your life requires so much to be extremely serious....

Sorry, cant do that. So, you may certainly debunk my choices, you may deride my decision, and place me in position of contempt.

There is more than one way to learn, Jon Stewart is an extremely inefficient way of learning anything. Its a matter of economics. I didnt deride your decision, I said go for it, especially if youve got the time for real news sources as well. Many of us dont.

Serious proposal if youve got that much time. I think youre intellectually honest enough to not report back total BS (although with some liberal bias in your assessments).

Watch 1 1/2 to 2 hours of FNC a day this week, including BO'R and a newscaster, say Bret Baier or Shepherd Smith. Do the same for MSNBC, pick your own view of who is an "impartial newscaster" and Chris Matthews. Keep a log of whats reported, that story's bias (say a 5 point scale from -2 to +2, liberal to conservative, and how much time is given to the opposing view.

Match up the newscasters and the opinion guys on the same stories.

BTW, Bret Baier's Medicare special this weekend was very well done and fairly presented both views with totally equal time to both. DVR it. (I think Paul did a better job of presenting his case than the Dem's did theirs, but the Dem's did a better job of rebutting, and would call the debate a draw).

At the end, Shepherd Smith usually has story about a bear. If you need an incentive. [:D]

Well, of course MSNBC is biased. That is their mission statement. They exist because FOX News exists. I watch Fox News all the time and if you can't see that they are bias then I have to question your sense of fairness.

Jon Stewart is social satire. Sometimes it's brilliant.

Owner59 -> RE: Jon Stewarts Ratings Are Now Higher Than All Of Fox News (6/5/2011 6:58:34 PM)

Cool, according to cons, high ratings equal credibilty. They always mention the high ratings when getting called on their bullshit.Like high ratings exempt folks from being honest.

So that now means that Stewart`s show has MORE credibility that foxsnooze.

[:D]

added:

Bret Baier and Shepherd Smith are fox`s token moderates.Window trimming to "claim" they are balanced.

Stewart will explain:

This show Stewart is much much than a satirist.

Really and here I thought you were against people making outrageous amounts of money like that. Weren't you the one who suggested putting a cap on the amount of money someone could earn? Or were you only talking about the repubs. Maybe it is different if the rich folk are from the left?

And when Fox finally steps into it's true role as an entertainment outlet instead of masquerading as 'news', all will be fair and balanced. Course it's rather easy to see why they are terrified of admitting they are getting their asses kicked in their ACTUAL ratings category is simply too terrifying.

Now now, Julia, I am sure Fox is every bit the news that PROVDA was in the 70s
