You did not hear the dripping scarcasm, outside your auditory range, I suspect.

Comparing Palin to Hitler is as low as it gets.

I mean how dumb is it to climb all the way from PTA mom to Governor of a state ?
How dumb is it to have your own TV program or attract record setting crowds at events or get tapped for the VP slot for your party's nomination ?

Well by your criteria he started out as a corporal in an army that had just lost a war.
He was in prison.
From that he was the star in miles of vidio footage. Attracted record setting crowds at events and instead of getting tapped for the number two spot he got to be the boss of most of europe and a good deal of north africa.
This is not to say that she is hitleresque but rather that she, according to you, came from modest beginnings to become what she is today, just as hitler rose from obscurity to the heights of power.

Seems he was good at politicking, rising to the top then murdering potential threats. He wasn't exactly a military genius. He had some good generals but there were times he refused to head their advice and the tactical blunders were enormous.

Perhaps you might acquaint us with these enormous tactical blunders.
Then of course it would be nice if you were to actually name the generals whose advice he refused?

Of course the British are coming.  They later burned down the White House.

Pssst that was the war of 1812. The white house had not been built when paul made his famous ride.

Come on Thompson,is there really a need to derail this by listing Hitler's military blunders....or detailing the lengthy list of Generals he either ignored or cowed into silence?
Surely you aren't attempting to put forth an argument which purports to support the military genius of the little corporal?
In the interests of brevity though I will put forth two salient facts...he involved his country in a two front war...when that was patently unnecessary....and his timing of Operation Barbarossa was seriously flawed...of course bailing out his little Italian buddy screwed up the schedule a bit.....but in light of that maybe he should made some adjustments?
Allowing Paulus to escape the encirclement might have been a good idea too...but I don't want to get to picky with you.....lol

Longfellow's poem "The Innkeeper's Tale" or "The Landlord's Tale" ("Listen my children and you shall hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere") was based on the story told him by Lyman Howe, the Innkeeper of "The Red Horse Inn" in Sudbury, MA and written by Longfellow in 1859. It was published in 1860 as part of a collection "Tales From A Wayside Inn". Lyman Howe told Longfellow the story as he had been told it by his grandfather, Eziekial Howe, who had been the elected Colonel of the Sudbury Militia on April 19, 1775. When the collection of poems became a best seller, Howe changed the name of the inn to "The Wayside Inn" to get the free advertising. When Henry Ford owned the property in the 1920's he re-named it "Longfellow's Wayside Inn" - the name it has today. BTW - I will be at Longfellow's Wayside Inn tonight for a meeting of the town's Historical Society.

So, Longfellow got the story third or fourth-hand at best, and added and subtracted to the story to make it rhyme (such as leaving out William Dawes, the other rider and the fact that the mission of Revere and Dawes was not to warn the people of the soldier's approach, but rather to warn John Hancock and Samuel Adams, who were staying in a Lexington tavern, that the soldiers planned to arrest Hancock for being the biggest smuggler in the colony and Adams for being his accomplice. The ride from Lexington to Concord was done on Revere's, Dawes' and and Dr. Samuel Prescott's own initiative. At no time did any of the three say "The British are coming" - since everyone in the colony of Massachusetts was British except for a few Indians - and at no time did Revere dismount and ring any bells, as "The Divine Sarah" stated to the press in her interviews).

FYI: The original "Divine Sarah" was the French actress Sarah Bernhardt. I refer to Ms. Palin as "The Divine Sarah" because (a) her worshippers treat her as "Divine" and a "Goddess", and (b) I suspect her public stupidity is an act to convince the anti-intellectual, functionally illiterate part of the American people that she's one of them.

More public stupidity:

http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2011/06/06/palin_defends_paul_revere_comments/

Palin, a frequent guest on Fox News Sunday, called the reporter’s inquiry a “shout-out, gotcha type of question’’ and insisted her grasp on American history was firm.

“Here is what Paul Revere did. He warned the Americans that the British were coming . . . and they were going to try take our arms and we got to make sure that we were protecting ourselves and shoring up all of ammunitions and our firearms so that they couldn’t take it,’’ Palin said yesterday. “But remember that the British had already been there, many soldiers for seven years in that area. And part of Paul Revere’s ride — and it wasn’t just one ride — he was a courier, he was a messenger. Part of his ride was to warn the British that we’re already there. . . . You are not going to beat our own well-armed persons, individual, private militia that we have. He did warn the British.’’

That was in the original:

"He who warned uh, the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms, uh by ringing those bells, and um, makin' sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed."
