I know a lot of people that have very bad reactions to K-Y. Personally i experience severe chemical burn. Other end up with yeast infections. burning sensations. etc etc. I tend to shy away from any "drug store" brands. It's not worth the trip to the ER.

Then again I try out any new lotion, lub, etc on other areas before it ever gets near a really sensitive part.

I like the flavored lubes the best.
 
WET is good, but their flavored line is also warming, which I don't like for some thing.
 
ID Juicy Lube is the best of the flavored line. They aren't warming, don't stain, wash out easily, and come in Strawberry/Kewi, Pina Colada, Cherry, Banana, Vanila, Bubblegum, Caramel, Watermellon, Mint, Chocolate Rasberry, Passion Fruit & Peach. About the only down side, is that they are expensive.
 
Bubblegum is my favorites. It brings out the barely legal fetish in men.[;)]

Try Astroglide, you can buy it in the grocery or drug store. It is hypoallergenic, condom friendly and does not promote bacterial growth like Crisco. It stays slick for quite awhile and you do not need to use a great deal of it.

    I have to say that Liquid Silk is amazing, it was recommended by the local shop and really is just about perfect. Doesn't get sticky, takes just a bit to get going, safe for all toys or condoms, and slippery as anything. I had been using KY but started getting chemical sensitivity from it, and in retrospect it required a lot greater quantity to achieve the same slickness as Liquid Silk does..

    Ok, I let it sit in the freezer overnight. The lozenge shaped cubes that I made were slightly more slippery than an ice cube of the same size while frozen. However once they thawed the gel lost a considerable amount of it's pre-frozen lubricating ability. As a rough guess, I would say 3/4 of it. It can still be used for lubrication, but it evaporates much faster than before.

    I've tried astroglide, since it was so often reccommended and wasn't very fond of it.  I ended up switching one session when I ran out... and he much much prefered my back up bottle of ky. 

    My personal preference for anal play would be probe thick.  It does unfortunetly have that stringyness, but it lasts quite a while and works great.  Need half as much as I would if I used ky, and 3 times less than I would if I used astroglide.

    For anal play I prefer to use a product called "boy butter" on my partners, I do not know is you have access to it in the United States. I also concur with a folks that said KY can have some negative side effects, in regards to the chemical burning feeling.

    i find KY jelly works best for anal use as it stays wet longer....

    Other lubes for vaginal use tend to dry up rather quickly back there.....

    astroglide works best for my sub and I. as for the other stuff, KY is too thick and gloopy and vaseline can have bad effects, at least in my perspective. as for why it is not used any more, it is something i could only guess at. and my guess would be, that as it is a petroleum product, it can errode rubber products and had issues otherwise

    Try Albolene Liquifying Cleanser.
     
    It's a little known product you can pick up in the skin care section at the pharmacy (CVS carries it).  It's petroleum based but doesn't feel like it at all nor does it make you feel like you just finished changing the oil in your car.
     
    It melts with body heat, is very slippery, and doesn't readily evaporate.
     
    As a general rule with any of the lubricants mentioned...always be sure never to let the lubricant in the container get contaminated by any you've already applied (this happens most commonly by people sticking their fingers, gloved or not, back into the jar for more lubricant).

    I would have to say my favorite lube...for anal sex...is Probe Classic (available at Blowfish.com).  It's very thick, water-based (latex safe) and comes in a very handy, large <blush> bottle with pump...so sanitary and easy to use.  [;)] 

    Second choice is Liquid Silk...

    I prefer Millenium. One drop is soooooooooooooooooooo slick. Water based, doesn't burn, lasts forever.

    Great response to an often forgotten topic, thanks, John Warren.

    Last week I was out of regular KY and used warming KY for anal lube for subbie boi, which prompted a very vocal complaint after the fact.  Just for the complaint I'll take a fresh ginger anal plug next time! ; )

    Wish I'd remembered to take along a little pat of Crisco....I'll have it in My bag next time!

    I have found that every store bought product i've tried gets sticky and can become an irritant.  I've tried every product named on the thread, with the exception of the medical brand.  The only one i've found that works for me is called "Private Reserve".  It is a product carried by F.U.N. Parties.  You would have to find a dealer in your area.  It doesn't take much and it's shelf life seems to be very good.  It's really a matter of personal preference, so good luck finding the right one for you.

    Dont forget with any chemicals or lubricants you use on someone for the first time, that their body may react badly with the lube or chemical. Espcially on the very sensitive and delicate anus and genitals. Note what servingwench80 says about the first time she used astroglide.
    So do a PATCH TEST first. You know put a little bit on, wait 24 hours and see if there is a reaction. That is redness, swelling , sore or itchy.
