The summer tourist season is just getting underway and so far the number of foreign tourists is above last year's numbers. Most of them are Canadians (just a twenty minute drive away) to be sure but we do get them from all over the world. Already this week I've talked to people from Argentina, Britian and South Africa.

Economic news is rarely - if ever! - all good or all bad but a case of good for some and bad for others. The weak dollar is bad for American importers because it make foreign goods more expensive for Americans but it is good for exporters (and foreign tourism is a form of export) because American goods are now more affordable on the foriegn market. I have no doubt that the increase in foriegn tourism I am seeing is due in large part to the weak dollar.
