What the HELL?

Taxes do not drive anything.  They simply transfer money from the private sector to the public sector.  Coservatives have argued for years that taxes are wrong because the private sector makes "real" jobs while the public sector does not.  Your argument is evidently that the private sector does not create jobs and this money must be given to the public sector to do that.

Perhaps you are claiming that the taxes on the wealthy create more jobs than letting them keep their money?

Please note that giving money to the government does NOT equate to government spending.  The government will spend the money whether it has it or not.  Giving money to the government reduces the deficit.

Yes, they do transfer money from the wealthy to the government. And then the government uses them to build roads, schools and feed hungry kids. Now, they could also invest in spaceflight and solve the energy crisis, but I'm happy if hungry kids get fed and the roads don't suck too bad.

~FR~

Taxes are a political tool to gain votes, by using rhetoric, like is in the OP. Balance the budget, create incentives to invest back into our country, and eliminate the tax loopholes/credits that the very wealthy may use to avoid paying.

There is a start right there.

I hate the fact that something as important as the money that pays for public things, is used as a political token.

If they are not using the funds they get now, properly, how will this solve that issue? If you have a boat that is leaking, fix the holes first.

Ok. Stop all the taxpayer dollars going to defense contractors. Problem solved. Next?

And without an educated populace, a good infrastructure, and investment in researching answers to problems that would not be economically feasible for the private sector there would be a drastic decrease in the ability of the private sector to do anything.

The fact of the matter is that the private sector used to only invest in things that would produce profits. Some things we consider a public good, and it is funny when the private sector wants to take over these things after we paid for the infrastructure to have them

Thanks to those taxes the right loves to demonize on a daily basis, they help pay for EVERYTHING in the US Military. Likewise, those taxes help to keep the planes in the air and keep everyone's cost of an airline ticket alittle lower. They help maintain the bridges, roads, highways, and even sidewalks many of us use on a daily basis. Those taxes are applied in a great many ways. Including business to goverment contracts that employ many more individuals than can be found in the goverment sector. Thanks to those taxes, we have law enforcement at all levels to keep things peaceful. We keep the bad spies out, while preventing another 9/11 from terrorists. How about making sure those of us who aren't in perfect human condition, can get decent care?

Its funny, that people simply have no idea what those taxes pay for. Nor what is actually purchased with a $100 Billion in spending. Cutting spending will have a direct effect on the Middle Class. Both in jobs lost and the potential for new jobs to be created over the next half dozen years (by the private sector).

More than just that, and to stop an entire industry suddenly would cause problems of it's own. I do agree we spend way too much on the defense budget, but there are many more areas that need to be looked at as well.

The system needs an overhaul, starting with the ones doing the spending.
