Bdsm is Considered an Art form in alot of ways. Do You consider Masterbation an Art Form?

Just Curious I know that there are alot of Art forms
in Bdsm. Like Singletail whips. Paddles, the right Music, etc.

I guess it could be in some aspects....you see I see art as a form of creative self expression...but also with something to say......what does masturbating say?

that i love myself?
that it is ok to love myself?
that i am animal?
that i have needs?
that i ache to be fulfilled?
that my overweight almost 40 yr old body is beautiful?
that my cunt is beautiful/shameful/enticing/life giving/the birthplace of humanity/a whore whole to be used?

If I saw or made a painting or a movie or wrote or heard a song or saw a sculpture that elicited those feelings in me then I would say yes it could be.

To me saying these things in a creative way would be art, ....but.... is just using my Hitachi wand, for 80 seconds on my clit, while watching TV really saying that?

I dont know to be honest.

And is it art if there is no audience?

I dont think so, I am of the belief (being a artist) that for me the same drive and passion that forces me to create...would not mean nearly as much with out folks that buy it....in fact I personally would not consider my art, art , if no one would see it, be touched by it, buy it, ....I dont think art can exist in a vacuume...

Facinating question, I am intriqued to know what brought it up for you?

I guess it depends how you define art. There are those that say anything and everything is art. I'm not one of them.

There are a lot of crafts and skills but to me, art is an elevation of a craft or skill into something that gives us psychological insight or expands or alters or challenges the perception of our experience.

While masturbation is pleasureable, it doesn't fullfill my criteria of an artform nor does BDSM nor its aray of tools, no matter how well crafted.

BDSM in itself is a form of sexual expression and while it is not an art form it is easy to see how some people might mistake it for one. There are some artistic elements involved such as making pretty patterns on a slaves body with clips or ropes though they are optional things within BDSM and not the thing itself.

BDSM can be expressed through art or artistic elements can be incorporated within it though it in itself is not an art form, art is the representation of expression and not the expression itself. You can paint a picture of an emotion though the emotion itself is not art, ultimately in my opinion all art can ever be is art whereas BDSM is many other things besides.

I think you could call masturbation a talent or a skill though unless you are doing it in a art gallery as some sort of representational display then it is not art.

Not only do I not consider masturbation an art form.. I don't see what it has to do with BDSM at all unless perhaps you are masturbating upon the command of your dominant, but I wouldn't call that art.. I'd call it obedience. Mostly it sounds like a wanker question to me..

I consider art to be something admirable, something which not everyone can do, something creative.
