I have several drive cloning utilities from different manfacturers. They are not manufacturer specific. Even if they were, I'm sure WD has one as well. And I don't even need a USB drive because each of these machines have two HD bays. To do that, my only problem is to just get a HD for it and do it. However, my love for Vista is so great that I don't want to abuse it. I don't even want to use it. If I can get one drive I can get another, but I've decided what I want to do. Of course I'll get a HD. Fuck with this one - later. (PUNctuation intended) I have decided to put XP on it. I have plenty of licenses and I can easily get all the updates. However Realtek wants to download a program that scans to find the exact hardware. Fine except for one thing, I'll bet my bottom dollar that XP build 2600 is not going to run the network card. I'm not sure it would even do it with SP3. So then what ? So today I went and found the XP driver. Damn main site always links to the program that scans the PC. IT IT NOT THIS PC, dammit. Well I finally found it and got it. Once it's connected DLing the rest of the shit is a breeze. Once it's connected. So now I think I am going for a slightly larger drive, or perhaps two depending on the prices at the time. I want to install Linux. So I went looking for Linux drivers. Every DL link they had was a dead end, cannot find........ And from what I've read on the net, even Umbutu has a problem with this net adapter. So I might be screwed on that. If Linux would find the internet, it would be great, but if not I won't bother loading it. Of course the cheaper way is to just boot off CD for Linux and install the drivers off a thumbdrive. If the HD works it'll find it, and if the network works it'll find my network and the internet. But not until it's connected. Argh. Maybe I should take Hunky's advice, but not yet. I can handle alot more aggravation than this, just meet some of my crowd. T^T
