ok ok so her aides said it, not maggie, but still, it doesnt look like like the evil twat will meet with the dumb twat...I realise this is from the guardian, but heh, sometimes Im just to giddy to give a damn, this tickled me. and so I share A firestorm on the US right has erupted after the Guardian reported that Sarah Palin will be denied a meeting with Lady Thatcher on the grounds that it would be "belittling" for her to meet the darling of the Tea Party movement.Rush Limbaugh, the conservative radio host, devoted the opening section of his radio show to denouncing the "preposterous" Guardian report, as Palin supporters accused Thatcher's circle of disgracing the former prime minister.The US conservative right reacted furiously after the Guardian reported that Thatcher's aides had decided it would be inappropriate for her to meet Palin, who is planning to visit London next month en route to Sudan. Palin has been touring US historical sites (an excursion that saw her slip up this week on the subject of Paul Revere, the American patriot who made a famous "midnight ride" to warn of approaching British forces).One Thatcher ally told the Guardian: "Lady Thatcher will not be seeing Sarah Palin. That would be belittling for Margaret. Why does she (and other cons) run partly, on being a victim? That`s not an appealing quality to have in a leader. Woweeze me....I`m so put upon.Vote for me,....I whine a lot. lol "belittling for Margaret" Man,when reality hits some people,they go berzerk,like when President Obama won the most votes in American history. The big problem with anti-intelectuals like Palin,is that they think they`re smarter.lol Yup. When they hear otherwise,.......conniption time. Those elitists!How dare they refuse to meet me! I dunno squat about how the British think and act. But for a private citizen to state that he or she intends to visit an ex-PM, rather than to quietly ask to do so, just strikes me as gauche. FFS, when LanceHughes decided to see if he could meet hausboy and lushy on his recent swing out East, he didn't announce anything until he had checked with them. That's just simple manners.

I think you miss the essential narcissism that surrounds people like Rush and Palin. They believe they are above manners, and social norms. Now, of course, it isn't they who are flawed in their approach, it is the Guardian who reported it, or Thatcher who is an "elitist".....

Well,they love Americans and America.Been there a few times and can`t wait to visit again.I was aways warmly welcomed and made to feel comfortable,even by complete strangers. I was there during the 50th anniversary of their victory over the nazis.They actually take history seriously there and do a great job of honoring their vets. As for Sarah`s rejection,I hope it humbles her a bit.Not holding my breath tho.[:D]

LMAO no Ron, I can quite happily say bollocks, but my feeling and animosity for her would be seen by some as seriously ill and twisted, sick and sadistic, and definitely against most peoples sensibilities. Calling me a cloth eared bint, is a term of affection:) IM made of much sterner stuff than some of our fragile posters:)
