Can I use this forum to make a small but vital point? Lots of newbies are coming onto the site with profiles containing the absolute minimum.
If you don't tell the folks out there who you are, what you're all about, and about the kind of person you're looking for, you'll just get skipped over onto the next one by the 'viewers'. Kinda self-defeating if you like.
Us folks out there can't guess, we only know what you put in your profile. And a single picture is as good as a thousand words.
Suggested rules:--
1) Insert your picture, even if the face is blanked.
2) Write at least five lines about yourself, and as many about the kind of person you'd like to meet. If this is hard-going for you, wite it out by hand over a few days, then type-up to the site.

This should improve your contact ratio by a quantum leap.

Preaching to the choir, alas. Those of us who use the forums know this. The ones who need to know just stay on the other side.

The audience you are trying to target in this thread will probably never see it. The people who post here and read here usually either have their profiles filled out, or they are not interested in meeting people anyways.

The reasons why people come here are varied, and not all of them are served by filling out the profile on the other side.

I followed your directions.
I  put up a nice picture even hinting I had a little something the ladies might go wild over.
Wrote a heartfelt description even indicating how much I liked to party in September.

Only contact I got was from these rough trade navy seals

Suffice it to say your advice didn't work well in my particular case.

Part 2 of the advice... have a little (or in your particular case a lot) of patience.
The important thing is not to become jaded or bitter.

So although you have been here (according to your profile) since 2009, you believe with ten posts, you have the knowledge necessary to develop "rules" that others should abide by? First of all, as others have pointed out, profiles on the other side have varied reasons for what is or is not in their profile.

Post a picture, even if you blank out your face? Did you think of how shallow that sounds? Many people here are professionals who don't post a picture in their profile for a valid reasons. At no time should that ever be a "rule." I don't have a picture on my profile and probably never will put one there. I also don't have a web cam, and if I ever get one, it will be to Skype with my best friend in Germany and never used on this site.

Writing a few lines about yourself and what you are looking for is common sense. I'm honestly not trying to be rude, but what makes you think that you are announcing something people wouldn't already figure out?

Soon as I break out of this whole bacon bondage thing I am taking your advice!

I'm quite happy with my profile. The less contact I get the better, as far as I'm concerned. Most of the people who contact me on this site are blithering idiots & if I got more of them in my inbox, I'd end up just hiding my profile. I'm not really looking, but when it finds me it had better be damned special.

Trust me, the men who contact me on the other side have so NOT figured this out. I routinely delete mail from men with blank profiles and no pics and wish they WOULD follow the advice in the OP. A blanked face in a pic is better than nothing.

However, their lack of effort is an excellent screening device for me, as I have no interest in an unimaginative/lazy/married Dom, which is the conclusion I draw, right or wrong, from empty profile/no pic.

my first question is why his post count matters -- surely you can have common sense and good ideas while also only having 10 posts here. =p

anyway, it's good advice, but as others have said, the ones who need it don't tend to frequent the forums.

i have sent messages to guys with thoughtful-sounding profiles with no picture whatsoever. i don't tend to do it the other way around. for me, taking the time to tell me a little about who you are goes a long way.
