BonesFromAsh -> Half empty or half full...which gets your attention? (6/10/2011 8:53:53 AM)

I've noticed, not just on CM, that generally the posts that focus on the "glass half empty" negative/pissy ranting are the ones that get the most attention.

Which do you pay the most attention to and why?

Do you try to post/reply to posts from a half empy or half full stance?

Kana -> RE: Half empty or half full...which gets your attention? (6/10/2011 9:02:13 AM)

I post on the threads that strike a chord with me.

LaTigresse -> RE: Half empty or half full...which gets your attention? (6/10/2011 9:07:58 AM)

Any thread that makes me smile, think, feel I can give a different opinion than has already been given, add to others' thoughts, etc.

Any opportunity to poke a sharp stick at a putz...........until they start sounding like a boring old scratched record.

I try to be a glass half-full person. I try not to react to negativity. I'm not always 100% successful.

ETA: Once I see a thread going south and adding pages by the minute, I lose interest and stop reading.

The glass is broken. I then stepped on it.

--I avoid the threads that are--  rehashed... that the posts are so predictably the same - like beating a dead horse.

It makes me think I have twice as much glass as I need. [8|]

I often contribute to threads that revolve around problem solving. I do not think when I give advice I am being a glass half empty. I also do not view those threads as a glass half empty. I view them as an opportunity to share ideas...

So, while you view things as negative or positive, I view them as opportunities...

Now, I have no excuse for my contributions in P&R, but some of the people that post in that forum are the people I am most fond of reading on this site....

I won't lie about it.  Some of the negative stuff is funny as hell.  Other bits of the negative stuff are opportunities to show people what it's like on the other side of the fence.

The negative stuff gets more replies, in My opinion, because the half full stance leads to a bunch of 'yes' responses.  Just agreeing all of the time with what people write up doesn't spark as much conversation because there is no difference in views.

A thread that invites name calling- and when that gets out of hand.... I bolt.
I dont mind playfulness- but when it does not return to the topic- then the thread is day old to me.

The sniping.   I also do not care for video links.  I do not have the time to watch every video ever posted.

I'd have to agree...kind of where I've been heading lately (although I've had a couple of "ffs" moments).

I don't mind a good debate...love 'em, in fact...but when things get personal and folks lose sight of trying to express anything positive or helpful (minus the false humility), well...let's just say it can be a bit too grade school for me.

Meh, maybe I'm longing for my pollyanna days.

Lucylastic -> RE: Half empty or half full...which gets your attention? (6/10/2011 10:12:41 AM)

I see a dirty glass that needs washing...
I like fun, interesting and educational stuff,
then theres P&R in which im polite, on subject and non partisan(its kinda how I roll) LMAO ok Im a partisan argumentative bitch at times.

Wth regards to BDSM IM one of those people who can accept most kinks and proclivities within legalities and telling someone they are wrong for their "emotions and physical needs" is way out of my comfort zone.
Ive only ever posted once in the gorean board and that was accidentally, because I dont feel the need to piss off someones orientation.
I dont even post much on the Mistress board, even tho that is MY orientation, and that is mainly because Im not living with my partner, and in an "unusual" sitch. Plus if I spend any more time on the boards I will definitely fire myself.

I have come to care about many of the posters no matter our differences and Im liable to pop up where one of them posts and respond to them.
I also have a great respect for many posters who often post what Im thinking and they say it much better than I can, so why take up board space:)
I do enjy a good giggle tho and some threads are like an achilles heel. Keeps things interesting, and thats what its all about:)

Big ol SMEWCH for you [;)][:D]

SexyBossyBBW -> RE: Half empty or half full...which gets your attention? (6/10/2011 2:57:26 PM)

Definitely, half full.

I don't deny having miserable days, but I try to step away from the computer, and sharing that energy with the world.
If I'm said, and I post that, I don't think that is about being negative. I'm definitely not into people who are always unhappy/harsh. M

LMAO.....is the glass clean?

What's in the glass?

Would you like a refill or just some ice?

Are you safe to drink after if I am thirty?

Is that a bug?

DesFIP -> RE: Half empty or half full...which gets your attention? (6/11/2011 2:24:50 PM)

There isn't much to share or comment on when someone comes on and says "well, we finally met and had no chemistry but enjoyed meeting as friends". What do you say then? "Glad you made a friend" or "better luck next time"? It doesn't lend to a conversation.

When someone opens with a more negative post, it opens up conversation that offers advice for doing better in the future.

sunshinemiss -> RE: Half empty or half full...which gets your attention? (6/11/2011 4:26:21 PM)

Celeste, that post would be half empty in case you're wondering!  [:D]

juliaoceania -> RE: Half empty or half full...which gets your attention? (6/11/2011 4:34:20 PM)

Here I saw it as half full... adding positive to a bad situation is a good thing[;)]
