This is what I mean by don’t vote Republican - this is the shit you get when you vote Republican. This woman is much, much uglier than she looks.

Bachmann Calls For Huge Corporate Tax Cut Alongside Tax Increase For The Working Poor | ThinkProgress

In an interview published today by the Wall Street Journal, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) — who is toying with a presidential run herself — decided to one-up both Romney and Pawlenty, calling for a reduction in the corporate tax rate to 9 percent. Adding insult to injury, Bachmann wants to pair that huge tax cut with giant tax reductions for the rich, as well as a tax increase on the working poor:

willbe, What the fuck did assclown Bush do to put us in this fucking place?
Fucking greedy corporations and outsourcing, endless wars, and many other failed policies, has put America on the fast track to becoming a 3rd world fucking country soon.

Respectfully, if you think Bush and Wall Street were solely the cause, you're very wrong.  It was ALL of them... the Dems (and ACORN) forcing the banks to make loans to people who shouldn't have gotten them (research the Community Reinvestment Act)... Wall Street for creating the crappy loans people got chumped into... Bush for riding the wave of the "Housing Boom" (much like Clinton benefitted from the "Internet Boom"), and so forth -- and nothing Obama's done has worked, but I already knew you can't spend your way out of a recession.  We were FUCKED by everyone!!!

I know you're on the Dem side of the fence... but ya gatta realize this wasn't one-sided.  The Dems denied, denied, and denied ANYTHING was wrong with Freddie and Fannie.

Video ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs

We were FUCKED from all sides.  =(

IF you don't feel this way, feel free to tell me WHY you feel this and anything else the would or could help me and the MANY others change our minds.

Imo, stop watching the news, reading newspapers, hanging around negative people and stop wallowing in all the muck. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

The economy goes in cycles, its like a roller coaster, it goes up in good times and down in bad and we always will. So we are in a bad patch but it will get better again, in some places it is but because it came down fast and hard, it will take time, especially in places with high unemployment.
People are basically impotent to change the country, sure you can vote, and do things like that but dont expect those things to change anything much, if at all. After all, it hasnt done that much so far.

So you can wallow in it or you can do things that make your life better, whatever those are based on your goals, etc. Imo, if everyone did that, instead of bitching to their friends, neigbors and on forums, then they would become more optimistic and that would do more to lift the economy than anything else they could do.

So, imo, get off the internet and put some bouncy, feel good music on and start figuring out how you can make your own life better and happier.

Marini -> RE: The Coming DEPRESSION in America / Evidently MANY others feel as I do! (6/11/2011 10:19:58 PM)

MSLA, I don't think Bush or Wall Street were soley the cause, at all.

Its just partisian hacks like willb, want to blame President Obama for crap that started about 30 years ago here in America, and have the nerve to imply that getting ANOTHER Republican in the White House could possibly "fix it".

This situation started LONG before President Obama became President, {as I have said for years}, President Obama nor any other President can stop it.

The ship was sinking long before President Obama was elected, and to think he can/could stop it, is insanity.

True premise, erroneous conclusion.

The reason things wont necessarily get better again is because of attempts to stop the economy from acting like a rollercoaster. Instead of smoothing the ride, all it does is threaten to push it off the tracks totally.

I am sure people in the 30s (& other recessions/depressions) thought it would never get better too but it did. Eventually this cycle will turn up and it will get better, of course no one can predict exactly when, but it will.

Marini -> RE: The Coming DEPRESSION in America / Evidently MANY others feel as I do! (6/11/2011 10:32:48 PM)

BUT, people are predicting, and many are predicting it is getting bad, heading to worse and like elton john sings in rocket man....

And I think its gonna take a long, long time.

The economy goes in cycles...

In a typical recession yes... but that's absolutley NOT what's happening now.  You can ignore it if you like, but if the shit hits the fan (as many are predicting it will... again, based on a number of reasons/signs), then you'll be fucked.  But again... do as you please.

One Small Example:  During the Carter years, they printed a bunch of money (just like Obama and crew are doing)... and that resulted in 20% interest rates against a 13% increase in the money supply (i.e., INFLATION) -- can you imagine paying 20% interest on your car or home loan?!!  Fuck no!!!

So, it took 20% interest rates to combat/control only a 13% increase in the money supply.  Do you know how much Obama and crew have increased the money supply?!!  Over 120% as of last year... so how much do you think interest rates will have to be to combat that -- 50%... 60%... 80% or ???  Who can afford to pay that type of interest on a loan?!!  Nobody.  And that's the type of hyperinflation many are concerned about... because that would make our money (the U.S. Dollar) worthless -- and THAT is why you're seeing so many people buying GOLD.  They can de-value the dollar, but GOLD will hold its value.

Again, that's just one example... personally, I wouldn't just pretend none of this exists.  In my opinion, that's a potential recipe for disaster.  But again... do as you please.

I admire your optimism, but I'm curious. Did you believe our elected leaders back in 2008, when they claimed that the entire monetary system would have collapsed, if they had not voted for the massive bailout?

So what are you saying? that you would rather wallow in it and a negative headspace for however long that takes? If that is what you want to do, then go ahead.

Not to mention skyrocketing food costs, which are about to get astronomically higher with the latest Wheat crop forecast... They're already harvesting first crop in Kansas, and it hasn't even gone to grain yet, so it's basically hay.

You city dwellers are going to be totally fucked in a year or so, IMO.

Barack Hussein Obama... mmm mmm mmm.

Barack Hussein Obama is entitirely resonsible for for the weather and the wheat crop.

Got it.

There certainly a number of signs (the debt, inflation, devaluation of the dollar, potentially losing our AAA rating, etc.) that we could be heading that way?  As with many... I believe in Plan for the worst, and hope for the best

Actually the expression is Plan for the worst, but do your best to get the assclown out of the WH.

Barrach Hussein Obama is responsible for every dog that bit a child, even better. Here we have 90% of the problem in just the first three responses. And 100% of the ignorance and fatuousness.

I think the ship CAN be stopped from sinking... but it's gonna hurt -- and unfortunately, there are gonna have to be some VERY deep cuts made.  When you have a moment, do some research on "The Forgotten Depression" of the 1920s.  Many don't even know about it.  It was bad... really fucking bad -- but they made severe cuts to Government spending, dropped taxes from like 70% to around 30%... and POOF... the economy recovered in some 18 months -- which led to the "Roaring 20s".  Google it when you have some free time.  It hurt... but it worked.

The economy goes in cycles, it always has and it always will, sometimes its a big long one, sometimes a small short one.
Yes, I will do as I please. I dont sit around worrying about it and crying the sky is falling, the sky is fallin, that solves nothing imo. And I have my own plan for myself, to improve my life. So you do whatever you wish.

I will google it, but please don't think we can fix what is going on the way things worked 80 years ago.
We have many other variables such as all the jobs that have been outsourced, and millions of undocumented people in this country, and many other variables, that will make it "different" this time around.

I would like to know what the actual population totals in America, was in the 20s.
I will check the numbers.
For some reason, many don't think that the actual number of people in this country matters at all.

Again, I will google it, but you can't fix THIS, the way we handled THAT 90 years ago.

The United States has at least 3 TIMES the population it had in the 1930's, do you realize how different things are going to need to be?

A. They are not my elected leaders.
B. It doesnt really matter what I believe (& darn it all, they didnt ask me!), they did what they did and its a done deal now. Water under the bridge.

THAT is the question, I am mulling around.

BUT, how long will it take for the masses to begin to realize the system itself has failed us, rise up and start the long process of doing what it takes to change the current system?

I have looked at them both, I have no need to have nightmares, because I have been saying for years:

THE SHIP IS FUCKING SINKING, I know it already.

I don't start these threads because I don't know, I start them to chat about it.
