tazzy here: http://www.collarchat.com/m_3721544/tm.htm asked where your tax dollars would go if you could choose. I'd like to riff on that.

Would you support nonbinding preferences on your tax returns, specifying where you WANTED the money to go? This would essentially be a popularity contest, with the losing agencies reexamined and at the least forced to consider PR/changes of mission.

No, for the same reason I wouldnt support direct democratic voting. People aren't knowledgable enough to make those decisions...and shouldnt have to be.
