Let them bash Obama. They are proving who is the most important Candidate of the 2012 election.

ROFL. This is supposed to be a dig? The incumbent is always the most important candidate. And last night they proved that anyone of them could beat Obama.

mnottertail -> RE: GOP Debate: Pawlenty Prefers Coke Over Pepsi (6/14/2011 11:52:28 AM)

Unfortunatly they proved it only to themselves, since nobody watched, or cared....

BamaD -> RE: GOP Debate: Pawlenty Prefers Coke Over Pepsi (6/14/2011 12:05:47 PM)

Just like CNN doesn't let you see the debate if you missed it live but they are happy to tell you what they want you to think about it.   Please note that last time around the Dems  spent most of their debates trashing Bush, not that it is wrong it is just the way it works.   They were all really running against Bush not each other and had to prove how they opposed him, same thing now with Obama.

Funny, reading the conservative responses from last night,(on other sites) there is no cohesion as it sits within the Republican party. The middle and strongest financially liked Romney a great deal. The ultra conservative(Tea Party types) loved Bachman. Response overall to Cain was that his weakness showed, Pawlenty wasn't who he said he was last Sunday, Santorum was weak in comparison to Bachman.

Not much more than a meet and greet amongst the Obama bashers, and no one's mind seemed changed. I am not so sure that Mitt can get past the far right, Bachman or Santorum can't get to the middle, Cain, well not so sure that after last night the support for either side will be there, Paul was his normal wierd self.

Pawlenty might be a VP type, but no threat to the rest, if last night's lack of venom is indicative of his performances to come.

Good luck finding someone that they multi-faceted party can support as a whole, we didn't see it last night.
Mitt is the front runner, and will remain so, and the tea party folks well feel left out if there isn't a strong far right VP to balance the party and the ticket. Mitt can still be painted as a Democrat's conservative, his record can't be hidden, not an easy sell to the far right.

I disagree. They showed that any one of them could receive support from the vast majority of GOP voters.

The surprise was Bachmann, who did better than almost anyone expected. Romney/Bachmann (overdrive) could be a formidable ticket, combining economic experience with tea party fervor and attracting the women's vote, and blunting some of the anti-Mormon bias.

Romney also did very well in his answer on the differences between Obamacare and Romneycare, closing with by far the most important difference...its a State law, stupid.

Im more interested in your thoughts on Romney/Bachmann (or Perry/Bachmann) than a bunch of randoms on RCP.

(And reading a few of the comments, they sound far more like liberals rabble rousing for the most part. In fact a few of them sound distinctly like a couple of liberal women on this board. [:D] )

mnottertail -> RE: GOP Debate: Pawlenty Prefers Coke Over Pepsi (6/14/2011 12:37:50 PM)

Bachmann cannot gain enough votes to pour piss out of a boot, beyond the republicans.

Romney is a bigger dog than McCain and has only grown longer in the tooth.

shudder

SilverMark -> RE: GOP Debate: Pawlenty Prefers Coke Over Pepsi (6/14/2011 12:54:27 PM)

Romney Bachman would interest me, but only because of the spectacle that McCain/Palin was to witness. I could never see Mitt taking her as a VP....Pawlenty, if he is a good boy and doesn't make any more comments on Obamney Care...I could see.

Lucylastic -> RE: GOP Debate: Pawlenty Prefers Coke Over Pepsi (6/14/2011 12:58:33 PM)

I wouldnt saddle Romney withBachman, gawd the poor bastard

Romney/Palin might very well have won, and as Ive said before, McCain/Romney would have been a slam dunk.

Why can't you see Romney taking Bachmann? It covers the fiscal conservatives, blunts a lot of the criticism that he is too far left socially and continues the drive for women voters that started with Geraldine Ferraro.

I have an ulterior motive Lucy...Entertainment value...watching her choke as Mitt moves to the center in the general election, and of course the skits on SNL will be hilarious!

Mitt is already too far left, if there is any entertainment value it would be in seeing him try to move further right without out flopping Kerry.
