R-E-N-T
an excellent cast of young talent with some familiar faces. A mixture of music, laughter and alternative life styles blended into a film that makes us smile.
Kevin gives it two thumbs up...pass the popcorn!
Just thought I'd share.

Master hated RENT.  So much so that He wouldn't even let me go see the movie.

For myself, I pick CATS.  We've been through two VHS copies and now have it on DVD.

(edited because I forgot my elementary school grammar lessons)

My favorites are Phantom of the Opera and Beauty and the Beast. I also partial to Cats.

The only musical I do NOT like is "Little Shop of Horrors"--everything else, I love!

I loved Rent on Broadway, was not impressed with the movie.

I love Avenue Q, The King and I, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

And I can't stand Oklahoma.

Camelot!
Rent (I'm in the minority in that I liked the movie. Thought it was a decent translation of a difficult play to translate)
Into the Woods
Jesus Christ Superstar

Heh, I learned to like Oklahoma after I was in a grade school production of it! I was also in Mame.

Having seen Les Miserables on stage 5 times, I would have to say it is my favorite (I also use a quote from that show in my signature).    I LOVED the King and I as I had a major crush on Yul Brynner when I was a kid and was fortunate to see him perform that role on Broadway during his final tour.  I think the only musical I've ever seen that I hated was Avita.

Jekyll and Hyde is my absolute favorite.  I've only seen it once, but it took my breath away.

After that probably Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, and Phantom of the Opera.

Edited to add:  Some great lyrics from Jekyll and Hyde.
"There's a face that we hide
'till the nighttime appears,
and what's hiding inside
behind all of our fears
is our true self
locked inside the facade."

Mame = good, though I prefer Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell because she is a true screen goddess and I worship her as such

Oklahoma still = bad

:)

Oh yeah!  Jesus Christ SuperStar!  I like the original Broadway album with Murray "One Night In Bankok" Head and Ian Gilliam of Deep Purple.  The movie kind of blew.  I listened to the soundtrack all of the time when I was a kid!
